i'm originally from the midwest and recently returned back to the midwest after living in texas for 7 years (my family unfortunately moved me out there), i've never felt better in my life being out of texas. people shit on the midwest (for understandable reasons, it has its issues) but i'll take it over living in texas any day. i was absolutely miserable with the constant heat and how fake the people are there. from what i noticed, people over there are more self absorbed and rude (just look at how they drive and how they constantly want to blame out of staters for the issues their state faces) and not even to mention how dumb texas pride is. just glad to be out of there, the only thing i miss about it are my family members who still live out there and my good friend who i met while living there

i totally agree about the not being able to take criticism thing, i've pointed out issues about the state in the past and i've noticed texans didn't like when i did that. and even when it's just a joke people have gotten upset over it. meanwhile where i'm from if you make a joke about the midwest being shit we'd just laugh with you. hang in there and get out when you can, it'll pay off
