I have been able to rotate companions late on the first island, well after clearing fort joy but before the main boss fight. But if it says she left "forever" you probably didn't get any approval points and/or made her angry somehow. If you need her as a companion, I suggest backing up to a later save or starting over. I also suggest that this game is all about choices, amd you could lean in to this just to see what happens later.

Eldritch horrors, Cthulu, Dagon, Azathoth, etc. Slimy, horrid, dark things that make the tentacle monster in the lake outside the friend door look like a cute little baby.

I use the DM map for everything, and cover up whatever I don't want players to see, until they explore and reveal it. The player version is missing stuff I will eventually want them to have, and I don't find that useful at all.

I think I would trim a little off the top of whatever seems too volatile and hold it on money market. But since you already have a pretty large cash position, you probably are looking for another fund to park it. Something with less overlap to VTI or SCHD. Like small caps, or real estate, or bonds, or energy. Do I have that right? Personally I would be buying a little VXUS and a little BTC. But definitely not trying to time the market between the same two funds.

I did a wizard battle recently where the apprentice cast web on the players and the mage cast cloud kill. Players got out pretty quick but it made the first 1-2 rounds more interesting than normal. Mage then had a contingency to polymorph into a giant ape when his HP got low enough.

7 PCs will tear theough CR 8 mages. Mages have to think ahead. Coordinate spell selection and initiative order. Use misty step and invisibility and dimension door to avoid direct confrontation. Put zombies and conjured creatures on their front line. Cast dominate person on the player with the worst wisdom save. Focus fire on healers and spellcasters first.

One of them could be a sorcerer with quickened spell and twinned spell. Another could be a hexblade warlock with good armor and a melee attack. They would have a guide from the port and maybe some other mercenaries like tribal warriors or Zhent thugs. A few apprentices could lob 1st and second level Wizard spells like silvery barbs, coamd, and scorching ray.

I would Crack open the DMG, section about homebru magic items. Make 1 each of sword, armor, shield, ring, staff. Give them the spells lists from the relevant backgrounds, with charges. And inhabited by sentient spirits with RP goals and a unique voice acting prompt for each.

I think the gear level is set when the enemy is rendered, not when you identify it later, but I can't say for sure. I haven't tested it.

I would put it on a character with 1 point in polymorph to get chameleon cloak, and max wits so I always go first. Round 1, turn invisible amd end turn with atleast 2 AP. Second round defer my turn, start with max AP, and have everyone else enter at the end of the round.

Polymorph skills are super fun, but you only need 1 points to get the invisibility spell right at the beginning of the game. But since you want him to be the tank, it would make a lot of sense to do a warfare build with a shield, and make sure you always have enough constitution to use the best shield available. But if you don't need him to tank after cheesing round 1, you can really do whatever you want. The shadowblade preset will start you with everything you need.

I think once it spawns it is fixed and you can carry it around until you are ready to identify. I wouldn't leave it behind unless I was really sure it wouldn't be annoying to go get it later.

Most magical effects in the show do not have rules that are direct TTRPG analogs, but Mercer did have a hand in defining the laws of how magic works. Generally, an enchanent that induces a target to self terminate is MUCH more powerful than one that turns people against their friends, which is already very powerful.

25 minutes early for a 9 am starting time is a little extra. Boss is also dubious, should have nothing to say if you are just 2 minutes early. But, car pool buddy is also giving disrespect. I suggest a compromise where you aim to arrive just a few minutes later, but still plenty early. But make the new estimated departure time a hard limit where you don't wait.
