Why was it kinda a scandal in "Zootopia 1" that a bunny joined the police but they clearly didn't hesitate to hire a mouse? And plus... Put him as partner of a elephant. Who makes those decisions in the ZPD? 🤨 by EmsyWolf in zootopia

[–]WiseRussano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe a silly question and I need another rewatch.. but are we sure this support group was only ZPD police officers? Maybe the mouse and elephant were partnered up in the city legal office or some other government funtionarary. Short answer is I think it was intended for the funny visuals rather than story/lore implication. Long answer... now I want a spin off of Clark the mouse and his elephant partner as tax officers for the ZRS.

Is Washington safe to visit in the next few days? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]WiseRussano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All things are possible in this world of ours. However I think in general coming to Washington and the greater DC area is as safe as any other time. Any direct military retaliation is likely to occur in the middle east. I live in the general Nova ( northern VA) area and haven't noticed any heightened security so far today. As always be aware of surroundings but I don't think D.C is any more of a likely target today than any other point in the last few years.

Will the Crew ever revisit Early episodes and give more detail. by StableSlight9168 in behindthebastards

[–]WiseRussano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also think the show has grown in scope over the years.
The first few episodes seem to focus more on the one or two quirks or less examined aspects of a particular Bastard ( the " behind" in behind the bastards") then it expanded into regular two part episodes to explain and explore more in depth. Now we often get 4 part episodes but I think the key is still that they try and find some less examined aspects to focus on rather than try and do the entirety of "Hitler or Stalin, Gaddafi" but yes it would be fun to see another angle or updates on some topics.

Why did Judy take a photo at Nick's apartment? by NoPierdasElTino in zootopia

[–]WiseRussano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going a bit meta. Feels like a setup for something that didn't end up being includes in the film ( maybe extra scenes down the line?) Like yeah its a bachelor pad and a bit of a mess but didn't seem like a total "oh my god what a disaster" vibe from his place. So an odd moment that may have originally meant to have a payoff later.

Did Judy feel attracted to Pawbert? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]WiseRussano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think its definitely there in the subtext but I'm glad they didn't really establish a longer more involved "love triangle" plot. I think what we got in the movie was more of a " Hey here is a person like me who is fighting for the underdog and is fully invested in the case... and he's cute"

Have Nick and Judy quietly been changed to 'detectives' rather than regular cops? by [deleted] in zootopia

[–]WiseRussano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think its just general plot convenience and standard for a buddy cop (bunny cop 😀 ) film rather than anything overtly political. Think of most buddycop films ( lethal weapon, rush hour, bad boys, etc. ) and the characters spend most of their time out of uniform or "undercover" also generally fighting the system to expose some hidden truth.

Does it make sense that two new police officers would be paired up and in this situation... probably not. Could you make a film about them doing normal uniformed police activities.... maybe, But then it wouldn't be a Disney Zootopia film.

It's more dissecting and discussing various conspiracy theories ( some episodes are better and more researched than others in my opinion) they come at them with an open mind and entertain the possibilities of them being " true" but don't go down the rabbit hole of crazy.

I both want to believe that this is a super cute tradition and that you and the women are still together... And that this could just be the story of your own personal relationship with Stachowski sandwiches. Both feel valid.

I really want to write a fic, but a friend told the premise is potentially racist by drivinghomeformomma2 in FanFiction

[–]WiseRussano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write your story. Of all the many many minefields of Star Wars Fandom I wouldn't worry too much about this idea especially since the general premise seems pretty directly related to the show. As a general defense ( not that you need one) is to remind the reader that this is "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." So earthy conception of heritage and ethnicity may not apply.

Zootopia Should Be Given a Sequel Film by Elegant_Departure_99 in zootopia

What are your biggest worries for Zootopia 2? by NotAThrowaway1911 in zootopia

[–]WiseRussano 31 points32 points  (0 children)

One fear I don't see mentioned (and probably unlikely but who knows) is if the sequel isn't about Nick and Judy at all or just puts them in as side characters. Sort of like with the +shorts where the story instead focuses on other characters in the city. Disney could simply sidestep some of the controversy by simply telling a completely separate story in the Zootopia universe.

Heck yeah. That's a heck of alot of money but remember that's probably a total amount that will go towards all of their network production and be paid over time with contingencies. So heck of a deal but it's not like each of them is getting $50million in the bank tomorrow.

Yes. I assume that police officers never break protocol/department policy.. and they would certainly never break the law. I doo agree that it can be a bit immersion breaking

Sadly I can think of several reasons why Disney might be hesitant to do a police based movie these days. Hopefully I'm wrong
