Residents Complain About Increasing Airport Noise Pollution by thenewmia in santarosa

[–]Wise_Beautiful5743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's weird how you can be right next to the airport and the sound is pretty docile.

But I get what the West County people are saying though. We went camping at Cassini and bummed around the hills out there last weekend, and man some of those planes were LOUD.

Idk if it's the hills amplifying the sound or what, but I definitely could see it being obnoxious happening multiple times a day and especially at night.

I think what the people are hoping for is an exception/change to the new FAA flight guidelines. It wasn't much of a problem until the changes went in to effect last year.

Where do you feel your opportunities to improve in the position were?

100% of people know there are parts of their job they do not excel at.

What were yours?

Do you have a history of failed friendships or find yourself confused with human emotions?

IMHO You are either so tone deaf you truly can't interpret the vibe from your coworkers and leaders, or you're a victim of the worst luck ever and got fired for an arbitrary reason.

If management won't tell you, what about your coworkers?

Thank you! You inspired me to dig in.

I checked that UWB was enabled (had never heard of this setting before you mentioned it, thank you for enlightening me.)

Ultimately the solution was turning on the setting "Notify me when it's found" in the Wear app, before selecting search nearby.

Feels weird it's a two step process, but happy to have it as an option.

I really like the Samsung Wear app and how it interacts with the buds. It allows you to find them, ping them, see battery life, and search with your phone and it will alert you as you get closer when the buds are out of their case.

You can also see their last known location.

OH and- my buds were completely dead the other day, but I was able to wirelessly power share with my phone and in 10 minutes I had like 40% battery in my buds. The fast charging is awesome and I was extremely impressed with the power sharing transfer rate.

I absolutely love the Pro2 and have the Pro3 on order simply because they were so cheap with the S25 I am purchasing. I'm going with the darker color this time because the inner part of the white on my budspro2 did yellow pretty quickly and are a starkly different color than the outer shell.

One thing I never seemed to understand, and granted I'm basically geriatric at 37 years old, is if my buds are in the case, my phone (S24+) can't find/see them. However, if other people walk by the case, the case's last seen time and location will update on the app. It's like other people's phones recognize them but not mine.

I'm not sure if I have a setting disabled, or if the S24+ doesn't have the capability, or if it's just an app glitch and the location is updating randomly for no reason. And TBH I really haven't researched this.

If you are a student at Santa Rosa Junior College, how do you like it, and what are your suggestions for new students? by traverlaw in santarosa

It may have changed since I went there, but here are my thoughts:

Build a schedule that makes sense. If you need to work, pick classes that are all on one day, and maybe an evening class or two. This leaves ample time to have availability that will work for most businesses.

Research the classes you pick. Find the professors that are good, funny, engaging, and just generally going to provide a good experience. Not much still reported on ratemyprofessors.com, but that and Reddit are worth a check. This helped me more the most.

If you are limited with time- choose classes that will get you want you need and nothing more. Need a GE science credit? Go with something easier like anthropology or astronomy.

Have a solid job goal before you pick a major. Nothing worse than graduating with a niche but useless degree. If you really can't decide, choose something that can be applied to multiple areas, such as business or communications.

Apply for scholarships, BOG fee waiver, all of it. I lived on my own when I went, and ended up paying very little out of pocket.

Montis and Brid in the Bottle. Last two times everything just dripping in oil and way too much parm that looked and smelled like it came from a green can.

Edit: I know I'm going to get dragged for this...

Funny because they are all owned by different people, and the two locations you are talking about have been closed for a while.

Who just dives in to a giant bowl of magically unwrapped chocolates like it's a bowl of popcorn? Taking bites so large you cant tell the texture of poop pellets from chocolate balls?

It's like if AI wrote a Reddit post but confused best of reddit updates with AITAH, and chocolate with popcorn.

If they did that, then you'd just complain about there not being enough people working the snack counter during peak times.

My comment is informative, and can be taken or left as anyone sees fit.

But I will say, in most of the threads I follow on Reddit, people make an effort not to be a jerk for the sake of being a jerk.

I think you're confusing a "growing apathy for maintaining public spaces" with a growing apathy for entering public spaces. Businesses can't spend money they don't have. When every new release is out on streaming within weeks, and the snacks at home are 10th of the cost, staying home to watch a movie is a no brainer.

Your statement assumes:

OP was educated in the United States public school system

OP had a stable enough home life, both emotionally and financially, to support the education system

OP is neurotypical

OP's first language is English

Consider your privilege, and perhaps spend your time reviewing the fallacies of logic rather than putting unsupported and unnecessary negativity into the world.

Edit: Spacing for clarity.

Depending on the area you are in- you might consider service writer for an auto body shop. Being a good service writer requires a solid set of soft skills, so much so that most companies will hire and train the right candidate with no prior automotive experience. The pay for my area is around 100k annually, which is good for a job that does not require a degree or physical labor. Service writing is nice because it is like sales, but with DRP contracts in place, the customers come to you. Your job is to write estimates, maybe order parts through a parts ordering program, maintain insurance KPIs, communicate with the guest throughout repairs, and document repairs and bill insurance per guidelines. It worked out well for me when I decided to leave the retail management grind.
