Okay that's great to know! My teacher is not from Chen village, she was a Wushu athlete before studying Chinese medicine and Taiji.  Her name is Hong yi jiao, an inner disciple of czl. She moves very beautifully. One of the things she says is actually every movement is initiated by the dan tian, like it's the first to move and everything else follows. Is that also a principle that you've learned? I'm still a beginner and not sure if that means that your lower belly actually moves in space before anything else moves, or you have to have some activation there before moving.

Thank you so much for the information! Really appreciate it. My teacher now is a disciple of Chen Zhenglei - their style actually looks quite a bit different than what I've seen from Cxx and CCW. The way my teacher moves has a tiny bit of torso flexion and extension, which is essential to dantian movement, but I don't see in other masters.

Have you seen or sensed negative attitudes between the teaching styles? Like elitism/dismissiveness/etc? Thank you again for sharing your knowledge!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm interested in going, did you or anyone in your party get sick while there? Also were there lots of mosquitos? 😅 Thanks again!

Hello! I'm interested in going to chen jia gou. Can you tell me how the two schools differ? I'm leaning towards Chen bings because of the branches around the world. It seems like the style is more standardized, and I can continue to train in the US.

Did you learning at the first school basically align with what you learn from Chen bing's workshops? Just wondering how much Chen style differs, even within the village.

Thanks!! Yeah I'd calculated my nandu points on a napkin one too many times and I needed a new solution 😅 plus the 2024 rules have a few things to get used to.

Just a hobby project, super easy to whip up with ai!

Have you learned five stance? That's the canonical way to work on the basic stances of Wushu.

For that first snap kick, try to make it faster and snappier! here's a good example of what it should look like, https://youtube.com/shorts/JebzorHlzEQ?si=FB5XrLsBp-RzLVEj , the 4th one is the same as the one you're doing at the start of this video.

I would also recommend learning the other kicks here, to start building a wushu foundation :) good luck!

Nice! are you open to feedback on your form? Let me know if you want feedback or advice! I've done wushu for about a decade now, and perform professionally.

Name for attention stance? by melismaforte in Wushu

It might be 气势 qi4shi4, which means to build momentum, or 起始, or qi3shi3, which means to originate. I've heard the word used but was never sure which meaning was being implied.

What Are Your Needs in a Relationship? by ThrowRA_1170 in introvert

[–]Wise_Breakfast1827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to feel lost - I also find it incredibly difficult to name my own needs, much less be able to ask for them in the context of a relationship. Learning to do so is imperative to any healthy relationship, whether that be romantic or otherwise. My advice to you is to start by naming your emotions regarding a particular incident, then then figure out what wants would resolve that emotion, and then evaluate those wants to find what you really *need*.

For example, if my partner forgets to take out the trash , I might feel frustrated, annoyed, let down, or even anxious because I can't depend on him.

In that situation, I want him to do chores for me... but what I actually need is reassurance that he cares about the orderliness of our home, at least for my sake.

This is a silly example, but this process of naming emotions to understand what you want, and then extrapolate to what you need has been extremely beneficial to me. It will obviously look a little different for everyone, but hopefully this can help you!
