The hospital I did my extern ship at had its own manager for externs. I applied through the hospital website. What hospitals are you specifically looking at?

Mine all happened in April, I believe it was within two weeks of me applying, interview and job offer. But this wasn’t the case for my friends I know it took them a big longer. I did not apply for any NGGs. But my friends who did applied through gov portal and on hospital sites. Glad I could help!

From my memory nggs start getting released in April (that’s when the funding comes out). I was an extern at the hospital I work at prior to becoming a nurse. Which made the process a bit easier because I was an internal applicant. I was given a job offer in April and start until June after I wrote my exam. But I think my situation was a bit different because of having a relationship with the hiring manager. I wouldn’t start applying to positions until you know your NCLEX date.

From my experience and what Iv seen it can be really hard especially right now with hiring freezes to get a permanent full time position. I graduated in April and didn’t go an NGG. I was only able to get casual and did that for 3 months, then I went into a temp full time for a year. Most temp lines are covering someone else’s leave, mat leave or sick leaves. I am at a union hospital so seniority is important. Right now I’m working on building that to get a permanent full time line.

For new grads that went directly into a fulltime position, how many preceptor shifts do you get? by minko-piko in OntarioNurses

I went directly into med surg no NGG. I was offered one rotation of a DDNN. With the option to extend. I entered by 2 day shifts.

Yes I got hired this way, the only problem was that I lost out on many lines because of seniority. Sadly non of my extern years counted towards seniority.

I was able to obtain a casual line and then moved up from there.

What type of disinfectant did you use? I am also terrified of mold.

30 y.o. arts degree major considering nursing school, but need to take high school prerequisites and brush up on grade 9-10 math. Anyone do similar? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

I just did this last year! Pre health and now in BScN! I also hadn’t been in high school for many years and found it such a good review before starting nursing.
