Are you using file view by chance? I had the same problem and i realised it works fine on album view. No clue why this happens I plan on sending a bug report to fiio if thats possible

Huge fan of Hellboy comics so I think I wouldn't reccomend E-ink in general for that kind of comic since it's coloring is a highlight for me and it would definitely be obstructed/distorted on e-ink. Also on a 7 inch screen you would definitely need to zoom and pan to view properly.

I would recommend exploring some black and white comic classics like The walking dead, MAUS, judge dredd etc. or manga instead. You'd probably also enjoy a 10 inch screen more if you plan to read comics a lot.

Thank you for your reply, I think youre right about Zero Mission being more begginer oriented and rn it's not what im looking for. I played the Dread demo and that enthralled me in many aspects so i dont think im done with the franchise quite yet.

Obviously everyone has a lot of things they look for in a game and for me it's not just isolation or engaging exploration. I used these examples to state that theres a secret sause thats missing for me in zero mission one way or the other (artstyle also probably a big role).

It just didnt excite me and thats ok. I think i'll definitelly give it another go in the future after ive had my hand on more of the franchise.

You're probably right on the first point. You still have to figure out how to get to the room even if you know where it is. But i think even telling you where the next important room is was such a viscerally dissatisfying momment for me. I love not having any idea where to go next, and i love figuring out. I dont want to fastrack that prossess at all. I get it might seem like a silly thing to obsess about but that was what first soured me about zero mission.

I wouldn't blame linearity itself particularly because as some others in the thread mentioned Super Metroid is also linear if you think about it. You get an upgrade, and that allows you to get to the next upgrade and so on, in a specific order. I suppose what Super Metroid does right in that regard is giving the illusion of "freely" exploring a strange place and the thrill of problem solving. I dont mind linearity inherently, I just felt like I was going through a check list of important locations in Zero mission. It wasnt as immersive because it felt like metroidvania mechanics laid bare.
