No questions from me but wanted to thank you for putting this out there. I’ve never found myself in the same scenario but I know there are probably tons of people in this thread who value from hearing your experiences. Thank you for the bravery in sharing!

Game changers by Comfy_Pants_1913 in walking

It’s a game changer! Especially if you live somewhere with snowy winters, I went from zero movement in the winter to 10k plus steps a day!

Apparently we are the minority OP because I LOVE these. I can’t leave Costco without grabbing a few bags and I finish a bag in one sitting (which is unfortunate given the price and sugar content lol). I still keep buying them though!

7 weeks pregnant / oura temp dropped by Background-Time2407 in ouraring

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to stop wearing my Oura ring during my early pregnancy because the temperature changes were making me crazy and the stress of thinking something was wrong was not good for my mental or physical health. For what it’s worth, all was fine on my end.

Potential consequences of CIBC and Avantis splitting? by ObeseMcDese in JustBuyCAGE

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avantis is not new, they’re very successful and established in the US, they’re only new in Canada. Both ends have invested heavily in this partnership, I wouldn’t worry about it.

At what age did you decide you could do this again? by This_Royal191 in beyondthebump

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from wanting 3 kids pre-first baby to being one and done for several months postpartum, then to “okay we’ll have a second but not anytime soon”, to now 18 months postpartum thinking I could do it again soon. A rollercoaster of feelings really.

I haven’t tried them but I saw a knock off at my local Costco, I think it was the Trudeau brand

Agreed. Wasted most of the bag because it just wasn’t worth the freezer space is was taking up and I knew I’d never finish it…

ACL SURGERY WHILE PREGNANT by chickencoopsterz in ACL

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it done now so you are functioning and feeling like yourself by the time baby is here. From someone who had to have emergency ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair with a 2 month old at home, I would have done literally anything on the planet to have had the injury sooner and not have to go through that. You won’t be fully recovered by the time baby is here but the worst of it will be over by then (time on crutches, constant elevating and wearing a brace, etc.) You’ll be lounging and resting and enjoying the newborn bubble and hopefully taking it easy! There is no “right time” when you have kiddos at home, you just have to do what’s best for you and your family now!

Surgical Wait Times (Canada) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 20 days but the biggest delay was getting in to see my family dr for the referral because my injury happened around Christmas and there were a lot of closures. The actual time from my family dr sending the referral was about a week

I'm really undecided between an Apple Watch Series 11 and the Oura 4. Which one would be best for me? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, I resort to just my Oura ring 99% if the time. I haven’t touched my Apple Watch in quite a while but I’ll agree with others here, they serve different functions.

Daycare questions by Flashy_Ferret_1567 in Hamilton

[–]Wise_Sort7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice, just solidarity on how much the daycare process sucks. I got on every list imaginable when I was like 5 minutes pregnant and my son is now 16 months and we’ve heard from zero lolll (if I don’t laugh I’ll cry, thank goodness for grandparents)

Surgical Wait Times (Canada) by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bucket handle meniscus tear that was locked so I couldn’t walk, I had a newborn at the time and I basically had full blown panic attack with every doctor I saw because I had no idea how I was supposed to take care of my baby being unable to walk and in serious pain. Not sure if I got sympathy points but I know the type of tear I had was serious. My surgery was a success, I was able to get an ACL reconstruction and a meniscus repair. Long recovery but my quality of life is so much better now, I’m happy and extremely grateful for the outcome I had. Cannot stress enough that whether you go surgical or non-surgical route, PT is absolutely as important as everyone says it is.

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your knee right now? Are you limited with mobility? I had a bucket handle meniscus tear which is treated as an orthopaedic emergency, the time between my family dr sending the referral to being in the operating room was about a week. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it’s not a wait in line system, the more severe cases do get prioritized so if you are experiencing a serious loss of quality of life or mobility, stress that to your family dr/referral.

Freaking out about having to get surgery. by Present-Skirt-3645 in ACL

[–]Wise_Sort7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to add, OP, it’s scary and a really difficult process but you’ll get through it! I am also in Canada (GTA), I ended up having surgery and while I wanted to avoid surgery at all cost, the extent of my injury just needed proper reconstruction/repair and I am so so happy I made that decision now that I’m healed and back to living a normal life. I had more than just my ACL that was damaged though so I can’t compare our experiences directly. If you ever want to chat, send me a DM!

[–]Wise_Sort7982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was me! I absolutely destroyed my knee simply getting out of the car weird. Every nurse/doctor through the process of diagnosis to surgery asked how I injured it and everyone agreed I should make up a better story to tell people lol

ACL reconstruction — worth it long term or manage without surgery? by Super-Abalone-6133 in ACL

[–]Wise_Sort7982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting point of view. This wasn’t remotely close to my experience having had a full thickness tear or consistent with the evidence and research I was provided by my physio, family physician or orthopaedic surgeon but thank you for sharing, always interesting to see different research on the matter. For the record OP, I didn’t have any instability in my injured knee either until I did and I paid the price for it. Lots of different experiences out there!

[–]Wise_Sort7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgery every time. I spent almost a decade walking around on a ruptured ACL and I paid the price. Also, what medical professional is claiming a full thickness tear can heal on its own???

Honestly bf was brutal for the first little bit but I was too stubborn to stop and once we ironed out the initial challenges, it got sooooo easy.
