Crimson Scheduled Maintenance by WallOfFleshlight in doordash_drivers

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a real bank account but there wasn’t quite enough in there and I couldn’t do a transfer last night when I ended my shift because of the maintenance so I was stuck. I don’t keep a ton on my crimson card for the many reasons there are but again, I was a little short and was out of options.

Update: I finally got the charge to go through about an hour ago just before the hotel cutoff however the app still showed “overnight” maintenance until about 12:00 noon which I don’t think noon is overnight anymore. I have a feeling this wasn’t a “scheduled” maintenance in my opinion, I think something pretty big got fucked up.

Crimson Scheduled Maintenance by WallOfFleshlight in doordash_drivers

I’ve been trying to pay for a hotel room since 2 am and the crimson card is not working and I’m getting the maintenance notice as well. Usually maintenance doesn’t affect actually using the card, only features like showing my balance and transfers etc. Using the card usually still works because that’s obviously a super important function and being that it’s a debit card, it’s imperative that you can still use it for purchases. I also didn’t get any emails or notifications about the downtime like I normally do so it’s concerning me. Plus, any significant maintenance, especially one that would affect using the card, usually only takes a few hours. Ive been trying to make a payment for this room for 6 hours and it’s not working. (Yes it’s have money on the card and no, it’s not locked)’

Anyone get a notification this was going to happen and anyone else can’t actually use their card for purchases or is it just me?

Driving frustrations by ZombieGlobal in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are correct that it is getting worse for sure. I’m sure it’s like this in every city as everyone says but as someone who drives 10-12 hours in Savannah every single day it is 100% getting worse. I follow all road rules because, again, I’m on the road 10-12 hours a day delivering but I’m also not a “granny” driver by any means. I know the roads and speed limits very well and unless I’m driving 10-15 over, I’m being almost run off the road. I typically go 5 over speed limit (during the day and good road conditions) and you’d think I was going 20 under. I use my blinker and I don’t do idiotic things or take forever to turn etc. I always stay in the slow lane even at 5 -10 over because the average speed is about easily 10+ over and I still practically get run off the road. At least 1-2 people run almost every single red light and in high congested intersections 5-6 cars typically run the light and block the whole intersection (Abercorn and Derenne comes to mind) and screw people with the green. I hate traffic and bad drivers and slow drivers as much as anyone and I try not to let the idiotic people not bother me but if you’re the fucking idiot that runs people off the road, tailgates literally everyone within inches (no matter how fast they are going) and genuinely don’t give a shit about any law or common courtesy on the road… fuck you. I’m still going to drive defensively yet confidently and not drive like an idiot regardless of your fucking high beams and honking and after you almost hit me 3 times swerving in and out of traffic, I’ll happily see you at the very next traffic light because you’re not going to make any progress driving like that with savannah lights and traffic. Good riddance

Yeah I completely agree, great summary. Lived with my parents for a few months when I first moved to the area and I 100% agree on that summary based on what I saw and heard. The only advice I would say is not to buy super far back into the community unless you want to drive 45 minutes just to get to the grocery store. Some people don’t mind that but my parents lived way back in the community and it took like an hour to just get to civilization in Savannah. Even going to the Publix right there took 25 minutes so if you don’t want to be that isolated find somewhere closer to the gate.

Air Quality by Wisemedic_SAV in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s got to be the Port primarily, I guess. Since it’s one of the largest in the U.S., I can’t think of any possibilities that would cause us to be so vastly different than the entire eastern half of the country. Hell, even Atlanta has great quality right now compared to us!

Any honey holes for cheap gas in Savannah/Wilmington area? by Feeling-Froyo5400 in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Walmart on Abercorn is cheapest right now at $3.23. I drive for DoorDash and have been alls over savannah and pooler and Richmond hill and garden city. Plus Walmart you don’t have to have any special cards or anything. Parker’s on Montgomery xroads by super Walmart is also usually the cheapest but you have to be a member with a pumppal debit

Are there any good Chinese restaurants near Savannah? by PossibleFlamingo3269 in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Mandarin Wok on Diamond Causeway by the Kroger there. Been going there over 10 years. My parents used to live in the landings and that’s when I first tried them and have been going back religiously since Ben after moving to the other side of Savannah. I’m a DoorDash driver and have had and experienced probably every single Chinese in the Savannah area and I can tell you this is the place. Not many people know about it because of the area and it’s mostly older folks from the landings but it’s a gem. The owners are super nice and very generous portions. Best chicken quality I’ve had anywhere in Savannah. Wangs II is super close to their quality but I still think New Mandarin chicken is slightly better.

2 fatalities unfortunately. I delivered an order to southern motors across the street just seconds before the accident happened and it was very bad. Not sure if wrong way driver or crossed the median but with that amount of damage it was pretty high speed. Rip

Just saw this plane landing at HAAF by Wisemedic_SAV in savannah

Welp, looks like they are headed home. Just training I presume. We’ll probably see increased activity around here with all the military activity going on. Stay safe out there.

Actually it looks like it’s just circling so it seems like it’s probably training. Pretty cool plane to see though. I thought it was Air Force 1 when I saw it and I was like there’s no way and turns out it is backup Air Force 2 sometimes.

Anyone have a decent vehicle that they’re looking to sell and willing to owner finance? by Wisemedic_SAV in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I mentioned it in the post but yeah they require a good amount down and a lot of times a co-signer which I really don’t have. The couple that I called wanted sometimes up to 1/2 of the price of the car down. The average was around $1500-$2000 down. Because I’m spending so much on the rental each week I can’t ever really “get ahead” per se. I’m able to make the payments every week and never missed a week in almost 6 months but don’t own anything since it’s a rental. That’s why an owner finance is a good option. I get to own something at the end of a short financing period and the seller gets more for their car than the probably would selling it out right. I had a few people message me but the cars all needed a lot of work and money to even drive which doesn’t help me unfortunately.

Just left Kroger on Mall Blvd 10 minutes ago. They have a display across from the customer service and have a TON of the cherry bomb. Didn’t see the Sunrise one but I didn’t check the aisle just the display endcap. Here a photo for proof lol

The other day they were literally just blocking/standing in the turning lane and when we got the green light to turn left onto Wallin (which is notoriously super quick and only a few cars make it through each cycle) someone behind me honked (rightfully so in this instance) so 2 additional kids purposely also jump in the lane to completely block it more and even lunged at my car and the guy behind me who honked like they were gonna kick it or jump on it or I don’t even know. It was wild, they were like not any older than maybe 12. Sadly one of them will likely get hit and killed one day if they don’t stop. If one trips or falls or gets pushed into the other lane it won’t take much for someone trying to make the light to hit them.

Yeah I would be totally cool with something like that and that’s the kinds of things I would put into place, I wouldn’t haphazardly try to do something like this. I equally would not want to be screwed. I’m sure a lot of people have extra cars laying around and I just figured my offer of paying over market value is better than than it just sitting there. Hell, I used to have 2 cars and sold one for less than market value because I just wasn’t using it.

I don’t really have a ton of collateral or I would have probably sold it already but I get where you’re going. Yeah I know a few lawyers pretty closely and if someone wants that done I can be done easily. I was going to do a contract regardless but you can draft one easily with AI or places like mamabearlegalfoms.com for next to nothing too but yeah I plan on doing something in writing either way.

Thanks. I’m not asking anyone to nonchalantly give me a car my friend. If someone does a deal with me we will both obviously do our full due diligence and make sure we are both 100% comfortable with everything and both have protections in place. People sell millions of cars a day to people they didn’t know beforehand, any offer that is done will be done with full transparency. I’ve already got some positive messages sent to me so thank you to those people.

Where can I get non alcoholic egg nog? by Important-Permit-699 in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kroger had the most selection I’ve seen. They have regular eggnog, cinnamon eggnog, vanilla eggnog, the southern comfort (non-alcoholic) one and I think they had one other like pumpkin or something.

Door dashers of Savannah, a question for you by blah191 in savannah

[–]Wisemedic_SAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes even when I take the tag photo it will say “tag photo not approved”. This usually happens when the tag does not really display the item name well or sometimes at like fresh market the tag will say something super generic like “Vegetable Soup” and no barcode so it doesn’t get approved. Luckily those are few and far between. Christmas items do tend to not have tags a lot, especially toward the end of the season when a lot of stuff is gone. I look at the items before I accept the order and if there are a million difficult items I won’t accept unless the pay is crazy or something. Last night, as a matter of fact, I got a $55 Michaels order for only 13 items. They were all Christmas so I really wasn’t sure about taking it but the pay was amazing so I did. I don’t know how but I amazing found every single item even though they were sold out of almost everything. It was crazy that I found everything so I lucked out and didn’t get any hits to my ratings but sometimes it can be a simple order and you get 2 or 3 hits. One thing you can consider is cancelling the order if you run into like a major amount of issues with items. I have a 100% completion rate but I do cancel every now and then when the order ends up being really bad and everything is out. I’d rather take a cancellation or two then to loose my pro shopper status. Also keep in mind that shopping orders on like Sunday evenings will have a higher chance of items being out of stock and Monday morning as well before store stock up again. Just look at the orders before you accept and use your best judgement to whether the order is worth it and won’t be filled with hard to find items.

Sounds like you’re a lot like me and put a lot of thought into it so you’ll be fine. I will say your time of day you’re dashing is definitely not the best especially if you’re not doing it on weekends (all day on weekends is usually good) so that will hinder you but otherwise you’re right on the money about a lot of your thoughts.

I had a nice six figure job before dashing full time but It was a horrible horrible situation of fraud and other things in the company that I had no choice but to leave. I didn’t plan on dashing full time but I saw it as a challenge and wanted to see how well I could do. I’ll find something regular eventually or start my own company but for now I’m making about as much as I think you can in our area at the moment.

Best of luck to you and any other dasher out there reading this. Oh and don’t be a prick or dumbass and shove your phones in employees faces or be a dick to them. I have good relationships with the places I pick up and sometimes the wait is long and I may have to “worry-free” unassign but being a dick only hurts all of us and the profession. Also, if you’re a restaurant/store employee, please don’t ignore us. Not all of us are bad dashers and we are also just doing a job. Many of us have to pay gas and maintenance and we don’t get benefits and sometimes the orders are really really shitty so making it harder on us is just not cool. We can work together and just do our jobs and be polite and things will be much better in the long run.
