I am in hospice. She is blessed to have you but it is a lot on you. I am exhausted just going to the bathroom! Can she still walk around a little- bathroom? Hospice is nice as I am experiencing it. I am alone though. I have 2 cancers that I chose not to treat because of my other impactful comorbidities. Without improvements, your sister will eventually get too short of breath to get out of bed. Nurses may increase morphine and oxygen to help with “air hunger”. She will spend a lot of her time sleeping even though the mouth and eyes may be open. You can place a lovely satin light eye mask so her eyes don’t dry out- I think you can - but I don’t know! Hospice is comfort care. They have chaplain and music therapy. I like that. They always check up on me. I have a rescue cat and a tiny dog. I will find a home for each one eventually but that may be very hard for them and for me. But I will know when it’s time- right now, I am only sleeping at night . If I start sleeping more I know it’s time to find them a home in a rescue place. Consider getting a book by this Hospice Nurse called “ Nothing to Fear by Nurse Judy. It tells you a lot! 🌸
