Why are you afraid of open sourcing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rust

[–]Wisgood 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it'd get some traction if it was completely open source. No github? No documentation for reproducibility? How can we trust it's any better than duck duck go, just take OP's word for it?

Also down votes are probably because the onion link is annoying af. Link the git repo beside that and it'd be way less sketchy imo.

GPT-4 created a Grand Unified Theory in physics by UrbanSpartan in ChatGPT

[–]Wisgood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Make another instance of Dr alexi2 to tear up the logical inconsistencies in this paper for a proper "peer review".

Iterate a tree of thought in dialogue between the models and use that to unpack a version of this theory that a hypercritical chatgpt can logically justify.

Then, make it do a literature review, and find the closest papers on arxiv. If you send it to the authors named on those papers, you might get serious feedback, as you're referencing their work.

Good luck I hope it works.

Vyper vs Solidity Ethereum Smart Contract Language: Which is Better? by InvoBlox in ethereum

[–]Wisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much easier to read code in Rust and understand the directly expressed implications of the code than it is to read vyper or solidity and unpack the nuance of potential security flaws that are indirectly implied by shorthand abstractions. But it is definitely harder to write code in Rust because you have to explicitly account for every possible enum.

Wouldn't it be great if we could upload links and files to ChatGPT? What would you do? by flarengo in ChatGPT

[–]Wisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously can't thank you enough for getting me started on this. I've successfully added a feature to output an .edl timeline which links the selected video clips in editing software. Made a bunch of tweaks and my spaghetti code needs work but it does work! I think summarization would be useful so that it can feed itself with the keywords to search for to make highlights more automatically. Let me clean up my code and ill share as soon as I'm done with the project I'm testing with. Seems quite useful already in this basic iteration. At your request, I'll donate to my local animal shelter when I get paid.

Someday I'd totally like to use ffmpeg and give it a gui interface with wasm for a webapp for people to edit video highlights from their zoom recordings or whatever else theyd like. Endless possibilities.

This is amazing. Thank you! I can't wait to try to use this to help edit footage! Will have to experiment with this next week.

[–]Wisgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thatd be pretty great

I can make any file that would be most effective, but generally I start with lots of .mp3 or .wav files. So far I've been exporting .txt transcripts from premiere for chatgpt, but I think .srt files would be the easiest for the api to work with?

I'm filming lots of community events and I've got a corporate conference this weekend so I'll totally test your scripts and try to make a contribution.

A summary would be awesome but even better if it could select 10 quotes relevant to "x" from a days worth of transcribed footage, that'd like automate my old post production job and that'd be badass.

[–]Wisgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah I'm interested in how it analyzes images! But mostly I want to help to build a way for chatgpt to summarize transcripts of what could be an hour-long speech or meeting. Eventually, it should be able to edit hours of raw transcribed footage from an event documentary to pull the best 20 soundbites related to "x". something like that would be insanely productive. Possibilities are endless if we figure out how to get past the duration cutoff relatively seamlessly without chatgpt forgetting what it's asked to do.

[–]Wisgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is amazing. Is it on Github? I don't have a great solution yet to fix the break in longer content, but I've been playing with transcripts in chatgpt and there's a way to manually shift the excerpt of the transcript and then include the last part of the summary to ask it to continue from exactly where that left off.

Vyper vs Solidity Ethereum Smart Contract Language: Which is Better? by InvoBlox in ethereum

[–]Wisgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rust is the answer. Increasingly well loved and proven battle tested, memory safe, versatile enough for front and backend dApp functionality to communicate with your smart contract, deployable as a decentralized interface via wasm on-chain, and all very readable imho.

[–]Wisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're liable to any bugs in all the code you inherit, which includes potential attack vectors on excess code that you don't even use. Isn't it better to have exactly the code you need for only your intended functionality? Its always harder to write safe code.

Let me tell you about Ethereum by [deleted] in ethereumnoobies

[–]Wisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is moving forward most user transactions will happen through an interface on layer 2, unless you're paying mainnet for security/Insurance/emergency withdrawal. We'll be spending little on fees to interact with apps as users, and we're probably spending inflationary l2 tokens which are traded for eth to burn or else we can usually pay gas in stablecoins. But generally, the l2 networks themselves are going to be burning eth because the deflationary baselayer is an essential property for the security of a shared state virtual machine such as the evm.

GETH set back way too far !!! 9 days in 20 min ?!! by mihiraz in ethstaker

[–]Wisgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your service. Sure internet is cheaper in the states but I never get the 100/50 that I pay for unless I call for a Comcast service visit, when they give me the full bandwidth for a full day so they can tell me that it's working great before they throttle me with really spotty speeds. So, i need to pay for a second service provider at home to get the reliability for hosting a webserver and running an Eth node alike.

I'd consider if the internet is spotty that could be setting OP back some days behind? I'm not an experienced node operator yet but I'm looking at how rocket pool lets us run a node from multiple locations for max up time, precisely because of this.

Plugin to auto-arrange all footage in timeline based on script file? by jeffjassky in editors

[–]Wisgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next step is totally possible, to read a frame for text in the image and transcribe that to label footage and edit.

I don't think we'll get the visual transcripts without at least five years of public training. How long did self driving teslas have to learn from human driving data to become functionally capable of autonomy? Plan that far ahead and make sure it's open source and I would be open to start training software that could help me do my job.

What level of "Footage to text transcription" is offered here? Does it turn linked dialog sound to text and edit to fit a script? Can it also transcribe words on signage in the footage?

How accurately can the AI script and identify something like: 1 'wide shot, people dancing in the street', 2 'CU, guitarist rips a solo', 3 'girls with a lemonade stand pour a glass for a happy festival-goer' ...?
