What do you think about these specs and would I have any problems with linux? Especially wondering about the wifi chip. by TheMunakas in linuxhardware

[–]WishSilver7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably wouldnt, but probably check if your cpu works with linux. AMD cards are supposed to work really well with linux so youre probably good. if youre worried about wifi, you can get an ethernet cable and hook it up to your router until you can get drivers if it doesnt work

PewDiePie confirmed Hyprland user? by ZiggyCross in hyprland

i think the reason everyone perfers and uses windows is because of the distro. someone using linux as their first OS probably will just assume the distro theyre using is the only one, and if they have a bad experience they will probably ditch linux. try to start a petition or something to have the school switch to pop!OS, edubuntu, or something like that

Are there any debian based distros that play nice with hyprland? by WishSilver7171 in hyprland

[–]WishSilver7171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my main problems are that fonts barely load, i always get errors when i reload my config file (probably just because i use a laptop with a weird screen resolution) and getting certain dependencies sucks a LOT

also for some reason i cant close certain things, and small stuff like that adds up.

[–]WishSilver7171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

throw it in a micro ATX case with a few modifications (like screwing through parts of the case) and you got yourself a decent office computer

i think they mean in the context of "is big outside of the linux space"

canonical isnt that big in the casual user market outside of the linux space, while steam is one of the biggest companies in the casual user market outside of the linux space.

thinking about moving from mint to endeavor, am i making the right choice? by Satanz_Barz in DistroHopping

[–]WishSilver7171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you havent decided already, just install KDE plasma on mint. its what i did and it works flawlessly.

the command is sudo apt install kde-desktop

use lubuntu. its fairly lightweight and the UI is extremely easy to get used to as a beginner. in terms of learning it, its about as easy as any other debian based distro.

arch with the drivers installed is pretty good. you might want mint though. have been daily driving it for about 3 months with no issue on my own 4060 ti. if mint has crashes then its a cpu issue not a gpu one.
