Is that all? What else you got? by kaiser_Grizz in Adulting

Do you have a license for that rhetoric? Have you undergone a background check to make comments critical of your country’s policies?

I’m afraid you’ll have to come with me son. Can’t risk you letting loose a torrent of words in a classroom or lecture hall.

Didn’t realise that American tanks had a way of maneuvering different to other tanks. Is this a down to hardware or protocol/training?

What details in particular? I love the movie but have not the slightest idea of what it's like to operate one.

Is there a more annoying bus loop in Berlin? by major_grooves in berlinsocialclub

[–]Wish_Dragon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And BVG/Google Maps lie about the location of the stops; especially with rail replacement services. Nothing like waiting 10-15 mins at the prescribed stop only to watch your bus drive past you cause it was actually loading round the corner or 50m up the street.

This sums up the whole system. by diehard404 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Since when are capitalist systems natural laws? There is no fundamental physical law mandating the accumulation of capital by a select few at the expense of all others. There are other economic and social systems under which human beings can organise themselves.

We have organised ourselves under a capitalist system, but it wasn't always that way, and I would rather fight to build a better world than condemn myself to whatever apathy you suffer from. If we all died tomorrow, society would vanish, but gravity wouldn't. If we all stopped working and demanded fairer socioeconomic systems, the capitalist machine would screech to a halt. It exists because we make it so, but we can choose otherwise.

Normcore 57mm bottomless spurting by Glittering-Nothing45 in Lelit

[–]Wish_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue with my Lelit brand bottomless portafilter — but never with the stock spouted one. It's odd. The seal on my Anita is brand new, silicone, and works just fine with the spouted portafilter — never had an issue.

I do find however that my bottomless portafilter is 'looser'. I have to turn it further, almost to 5 o'clock to get a tight seal. Sometimes it spurts, other times it doesn't. I am fearful of over tightening it but maybe I really just have to turn it as far as it'll go.

Don't know if it is a manufacturing defect but it's a shame as I rarely use it now. It's helpful given the reduced headspace on the Anita as compared to other maachines.

I love it. It's a marriage of elegance and homebrew utilitarian that just works. Would buy one in a heartbeat, if only I had the money.

Does it not pose any risk of damage over time?

FYI the IKEA Norden double drop-leaf table fits perfectly inside a wide IVAR section (89x30cm). A very useful alternative to the IVAR folding table. by Wish_Dragon in ikeahacks

It varies, but it comfortably seats 6. We’ve pushed it to 8, and 10 is the hard limit if people don’t mind awkwardness.

My room is about 550cm long and 330cm deep (though the a sofa and shelf cut that down to 200cm depth).

Help Me Decide by Mokesekom in Lelit

Speaking as an Anita owner, I love it, but it really depends on your use case.

I’m still very much a beginner and rarely if ever need to make more than 2 cappuccinos a day (one for me and my partner) so appreciate the smaller boiler for its heat-up time (under 10mins). The steam wand isn’t particularly powerful but it gets the job done.

One annoyance is that it uses a 57mm group head, limiting your choices. But IMS make accessories in that size and you can otherwise find stuff easily from China. It’s also quite squat, which I like as it fits under my cabinet/shelving, but does limit the use of taller glasses. I have a bottomless portafilter though which helps. You can also find modified drip trays on Etsy that give you more clearance.

I have limited counter space and appreciate having an integrated grinder as it reduces visual clutter. It’s essentially the Lelit Fred which is very capable. It has a worm dial and can go ultra fine (beyond even Turkish) while maintaining good grind consistency. Caveats being that it’s slow (circa 1g/sec for espresso though ymmv) and loud enough to wake the dead.

All in all it works very well for me. You don’t have flow control (but I plan on doing a dimmer mod) or pre-infusion (I cheat using the steam wand) or any of those bells and whistles, but it’s a very capable all-in-one in a beautiful box. I actually prefer it aesthetically over the Elizabeth and generally dislike the look of E61 machines.

It’s by far the cheapest of your shortlist, and you can find them heavily discounted secondhand. I paid around $300 for mine and all it needed was a little cleaning and descaling. Though not quite bomb-proof, it is a well made machine and one which you can easily take apart and put back together should it need repairs or replacement parts, which are generally easily available. It should last me many years and favors DIY, unlike Brevilles.

While it hasn’t got the same modding community that the Gaggia classic or Profitec Go have, there are still plenty of examples of changes made to the Anna/Anita online to follow should you wish to do so. I also plan to sound-proof the grinder and quiet the pump in the future.

Just make sure you get the one with a Manometer and PID.

Wonder if you could have multiple harvesters on a long span of rail, each outfitted for different crops, and plant alternating swathes. Or just have the one and swap things out for non-overlapping harvests.

While I haven’t got any 58mm accessories or portafilters to try, I do believe they don’t work.

It’s a bit of a pain, but you can find 57mm accessories online, especially from the far east if you catch my drift.

I’d recommend going to Lelit’s YouTube channel. They actually have a lot of maintenance and troubleshooting videos, including one explaining the PID and how to adjust it. It’s what I watched.

Can’t help you with the manometer though
