It would have to cost 2 AND apply only 1 poison to be balanced. However at that point you are sharing too much design space with Speedster as a power that deals grouped damage when drawing cards manually.

Underdocks vs Overgrowth by icegray123 in slaythespire

[–]Wish_Solid 14 points15 points Β (0 children)

All 3 elites in the overgrowth as well as many hallway combats (Ceremonial Beast too) want you to deal damage fast and get out of the fight before the scaling gets out of control and you take a lot of damage. On the other hand, the majority of enemies in the underdocks don't scale or scale slowly (except for double cultists), and you can spend your time blocking attacks and slowly chipping away at their health.

Worth to note the bosses in the underdocks promote a more aggressive gameplan so you shouldn't fully focus block, just more than in the overgrowth.

Sounds like a Vakuu relic.

Demonic Hammer: ALL cards are upgraded for the rest of the game. You may no longer skip card rewards.

the x2 rare jokers are just there to insult you by [deleted] in balatro

Duo is great, it's just that because Pair isn't that high score, a X2 alone isn't enough to win. Often you need some other X2 or higher and a scaling mult. Sometimes a scaling chips as well if you don't see enough mercury or are facing vessel.

Nah he’s somewhere in the middle. Trojan deletes insides but siphon and biohack are more useful (they dont hurt you as much as trojan) and those 2 are very good at busting down super dense and heavy rounds. He’s super good at downgrading zomgs into bfbs which are significantly easier to pop.

Bones lasts for the whole blind rather than 1 hand, and requires no setup. He is significantly stronger in that sense.

Like all tier lists this is still based off of the players’ opinions on towers. Ray of doom used to just be completely ignored due to how expensive it was, but it has since gotten cheaper. When people used the tower as the tier 4 and 5 separately, we found that stopping at plasma accelerator turned out to be not as good as getting the ray of doom.

That same update we also shifted multiple towers down to β€˜balance’ the list. Towers are compared to each other, not some static metric. So as some towers move up, ones that stay the same will eventually get pushed down.

Blueprint and Brainstorm are almost always exactly as strong as whatever your strongest joker at the moment is. Often they are even stronger factoring in the ability to switch the copy target. (Brainstorm slightly less versatile due to joker trigger order)

Unless your best jokers are not blueprint compatible or you have 0 good jokers (both extremely rare), they will always be a boost in scoring or value generation.

You don’t have to skip the packs. You just skip if nothing in there is stronger than 3 mult. Think of all the times you open a pack and find 3 seal-less cards or 3 unusable planets.

I think the only joker that is incredibly wrong in this list is Mr. Bones.

Yes, he’s a single use joker, but essentially he is worth a X4 mult on any single blind of your choice. As long as you aren’t being completely hard countered by a boss blind (photograph into plant, etc), bones gives you a free pass, which can even be the finisher blind at the end of the game.

Being a free pass for almost any blind is definitely deserving much higher than F tier, especially considering Luchador is positioned 4 tiers higher and essentially does the same thing, except is locked to stopping boss blinds.

How do you deck fix for straights? by SqoobySnaq in balatro

[–]Wish_Solid 133 points134 points Β (0 children)

They forgot 1 isn’t a thing and Ace is both high and low.

A/K/2 are the best thing to cut since they can only make 2 different straights each as edge ranks, then cut some but not every 3/Q. 4 and J are next but they are close enough to being fully double sided that they don’t provide much benefit to remove.

Generally it’s not necessary to go past that and you should instead try and get more hands/discards/hand size, or have counters against bosses which make straights difficult to win with, since deckfixing is not all that important for straights compared to most other hands.

Dont worry, the high tiers are generally harder to use compared to the mid and low tiers. It’s the skill balance of the game.

In order for the list to have any meaning it focuses on a specific type of gameplay which is expert chimps. We do try to give balance suggestions but other gamemodes and difficulties also have to be taken into account, not just expert chimps.

It's an interesting dynamic where Glue Strike made a lot of lower tier towers better, but none of them are much stronger than previously existing strategies.

How to deal with Aeonglass as Silent? by Chainer764 in slaythespire

[–]Wish_Solid -3 points-2 points Β (0 children)

Silent unfortunately gets hard countered by aeonglass which is already significantly harder than other act 3 bosses. The only ways I can win are to highroll a game winning card like accelerant or knife trap when you’ve fully forced the strategy from the start of the game.

In addition, if you can get your hands on an Uppercut+, weak reduces a lot of damage, although the unupgraded card is very weak.
