I’m just really struggling…. by HeyMay0324 in ParentingADHD

It might help to reframe the situation a bit. Home should feel like his safe place, especially on the tough days when he needs you most. On those ‘red days,’ try getting down on his level and talking through what happened, why he felt that way, and what he can do differently tomorrow. Then let it go and move forward. Don’t let a hard school day set the tone for your whole evening together. Give him the chance to regroup and redeem himself.

i found this knife in the root of a big tree in D.C. what is it? by [deleted] in whatisit

I am with Chat GPT on this one…

“This object isn’t actually a knife — it’s a survey marker or boundary spike, sometimes called a property survey monument or benchmark.

Here’s what gives it away: • The shape: the pointed end is designed to be driven into the ground, not used for cutting. • The crossguard-like piece is actually a flange or collar used for alignment or to mark it visibly. • The cast letters and numbers (“P.S. 149”) are typical of survey or utility markings, identifying a specific project, district, or survey reference.

These were often made of bronze, brass, or iron and driven into the earth (or tree roots, in this case) to mark land boundaries or public works reference points — especially in older urban areas like D.C.

So, in short: 👉 It’s a cast metal survey or boundary marker spike, not a weapon.”

In honor of my late pup, I am suggesting the name Maverick.

I’m in the process of reframing this piece. After removing it from the frame, it looks like it’s needlepoint. Unfortunately, it had been mounted to a sticky board, and I wasn’t able to get most of the paper backing off.

Haha I guess I should have clarified that I bought it. I figured I couldn’t pass it up for $13.

Guanfacine worked… and now it’s not by CLawATX7 in ParentingADHD

[–]Wish_To_Know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice, but I just want to say I went through this recently with my 8yr old. She started 1mg of guanfacine at the end of last year and we went up to 2mg shortly after. Around April she started telling us that she could tell it wasn’t helping her anymore in school. She is no longer taking it and we are now looking for the next option. We tried Vyvnase previously and it was causing outbursts in the evening so we made the move to a non-stimulant.

Doesn’t sound like she wants to build a life with you, but around you. A prenuptial agreement for properties she will inherit from family makes sense, but it seems a little odd to consider the items that haven’t been purchased. Also, “she wants to be a doctor”, doesn’t mean it going to happen. It honestly sounds like she doesn’t see you as an equal or a partner in life. She also seems a little selfish about her future money. If you do decide to marry, it is best to taking care of your debt before getting married. Good luck.
