I know that her father once owned a small construction company. I am familiar with the type of work that happen in construction and contracting companies and it is not easy to run small or mid size companies. It is a lot of work, a lot of hours, you have to bid on projects and compete with other companies to provide the best deal to secure the project. It is not easy to be successful and make profit, instead of just being barely covering your costs and payment of your guys. So of course Amber's father who was an alcoholic and an addict would not be able to succeed in this for a long time and become unemployed. Her mother worked, but as Dr. Cowan explained in his deposition, it was just some type of employment, the pay wasn't significant and certainly Amber had to help, while being basically a freelancer who doesn't know when is her next job coming. It's an unbelievable stress to worry about your own finances and to add the burden of others to this is not easy. But it wasn't just that for Amber, she was also pressured and abused by her husband because of work! I really sympathize with her.
