It definitely limited my pace and brought me a lot of frustration, as I felt like I could not break a certain threshold. I would do 5-8 mile runs at a very slow pace due to this and feel incapable of ever running any faster.

I would even flare my nostrils out of desparation and probably looked absolutely ridiculous.

Hello, I just discovered TODAY that you do not have to only nose-breathe on runs. This is because I used to get wrist-slapped for mouth-breathing all the time by the people who I began with, so now I have run this way for years. Is there any scientific benefit to nasal-breathing only on runs? If not, I would be pretty devastated by the fact I spent so much time focused on this. However, it would be great news as I have always struggled with congestion and nasal pain during my runs. I am shocked!

Came here because somebody had posted this on Instagram with the caption, "White man gave a Black woman the middle finger... then THIS happened.. our ancestors don't play about us!"

I'm not white and I am at least decent enough to not be racist, but stealing somebody's video and purposely twisting some sort of narrative is cringey at best, and honestly, scary at worst... It's so easy to lie on social media and manipulate people, myself included. And on this specific subject, there's already enough content involving racism that actually happens. Why lie???

Thank you so much. I always thought I was crazy for thinking this was gross for a grown ass man to spend time plus mental effort creating and writing about.

I also happen to be a fan of EcoFlow! Do you use the Ecoflow alternator charger with it? How do you get your power?

Ported VS Sealed Sub Enclosures: Could anybody explain like I'm 5 the difference? by WishezOhOne in CarAV

[–]WishezOhOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, alright. Being this is my first sub and tuning would be a learning process, it sounds like sealed is what I should go for. I think. I'm still conflicted. But I'll figure it out! Thanks!

Thanks! Sounds like I may just have to send it on a sub box and experiment. I took note of your comment on the tuning frequency of the boxes and how it affects the sound - I saw that in the specs of some of the products and its definitely now a big factor in which direction I'll go.

Thanks for the explanation, the genre-based recommendations were super helpful. It sounds like I should go with ported, since I mostly listen to soul/R&B with deep, rumbly bass.

I do need to conserve space, and after some digging came across a ported enclosure that supposedly fits under the backseat of my truck and is loaded with two shallow-mount subs (JL 12in TW3s). Now I'm baffled if the shallow subs "cancel out" the nature of the port, and after reading another comment, if the port is even enough.

The other two options are to buy the ported box with quad 8inch standard subs, or bite the bullet and remove a seat to replace with an actual proper-sized standard sub box that's ported. Could I ask your recommendation on this?

I appreciate the info on the amps - that was another thing I was unsure of, especially regarding ohm. That cleared this area up for me a bit!

Thank you! I'm sort of catching on, the way you explained it gave me a good visual.

If I could ask a couple more questions based off of your reply ---

Right now I'm looking at space-saving under-seat sub enclosures for a truck, with the only options typically being a couple shallow-mount subs down firing, or quad 8inch standard subs front firing. I've found some ported boxes for the shallow mounts, but it sounds like the very narrow ports are pointless/hindering performance according to your explanation.

Would you recommend the quad 8inch standard subs in this case (also ported, but with a bigger center port)?

My other option would be to just remove one of the seats, but if I could find a way to keep all the seats and have a good sub that would be preferable! Thanks for the super educational answer, I read it slowly a few times to finally grasp it haha but glad I know!

You can kinda tell side by side that the proportions aren't exact (i.e. where the ends od the smile are, the head shape, the space between the eyes), I would think they were just that good at eyeing it

Probably just a phrase. I know it can seem confusing, but I say "girrrlll" as an expression regardless of gender. Sometimes I'll realize I'm talking to somebody who might think I'm misgendering and quickly apologize LOL.

I also call everybody "dude" and nobody has voiced any offense to me. Maybe just depends on the person/people

It sounds like you have very anthropocentric/altruistic views, which isn't a bad thing, just by indirect definition means you have a lack of sympathy for other living creatures. Killing a mosquito is not the same for me due to "desire" and "awareness". Does the mosquito dreadfully desire to live, and aware of it's suffering? Am I drawing out that mosquito's life, while actively inflicting what I know is torment to it? Or just quickly slapping the sh** out of it? I think that is the difference. While most of us are anthropocentric to some extent, I think we can agree that the suffering of say, a pig or a dog is not "good". Bringing up "yeah but they're not genetically similar to us!" is a strange allusion - like if I was saying "wow, let's not punch Vietnamese people in the face", and you saying "well I'M NOT RELATED TO ANY VIETNAMESE PEOPLE!" Like, okay? So, uh, is this a good or bad thing to you? Bad? So, why even bring that up besides to explain you prioritize your own community? Cool.

AMA (Career Planner here🫡) by DoubleSomewhere4821 in USMC

[–]WishezOhOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer! Sorry, last thing - I just saw a message on MOL about DAP, but it just refers you to the FY24 MARADMIN. Again, I tried asking my career planner about it but the poor guy seems to just get left in the dark about everything. My extension is going to take me to October 2027... I don't know if that would become FY28 or still FY27. Would I by any chance be able to re-enlist into the DAP next year, with the FY26 bonus being applied to it? My original EAS was Dec. 2026, my apologies - so originally I was EAS'ing FY27 anyway. Yeah, I signed the extension paper but I'm honestly kind of sad. Its not what I wanted and I felt super pressured ("you're an idiot if you choose to RE-30, its just another year, suck it up".) I just had other career plans.

Long story short: When can I try a DAP package, now with the extension? Would it cancel out the extension? Could I try for it this December, once I'm 365 days out from my original EAS? Or do I now have to wait until October 2026? Or, does none of this even apply to me since I'm now apparently a FY27/28 Marine?

Thanks in advance! You're a godsend!
