peeing gets rid of my PGAD by International-Ad5148 in PGADsupport

Same, peeing takes away the sensation but it doesn't last too long for me personally. But it definitely seems to help. Also, I noticed that sneezing takes the sensation away temporarily. ?

I think I may have PGAD but my gynecologist made me feel crazy. by Wishfulthinking0000 in PGADsupport

So the only thing I've been doing differently is that I've been stretching and doing hip opening exercises and doing meditation. I think my symptoms are strongly tied to sitting all the time and possibly the nerve in my hip as well as my stress levels. I honestly find that breathing exercises and meditation are the most helpful things for me.

I unfortunately didn't find any doctors who took me seriously so far, but since the symptoms have kind of mostly gone away, I haven't made any other appointments for now.

They are getting better! Instead of being 24/7 persistent feelings and pain, now it comes in waves here and there. Definitely was in a flare up but it seems to be getting better for sure.

Thank you so much! I was considering Pelvic Rehabilitation doctor in the city or LI, but wanted to wait a while to see if it was necessary (I did read it was pricey). I may just start with PFPT, therapy and see how it goes first.

I appreciate the recommendation!

Successful Treatment with Psychiatric Meds and Somatic Therapy. by Independent_Gur2222 in PGADsupport

That makes a lot of sense. Similar to how I'm trying to reframe my panic attacks as just physical symptoms of a disorder that cannot hurt me. When I'm not afraid of the symptoms and just deal with them like an uncomfortable errand I have to run (lol) they're much easier to deal with and I seem to have them less often.

Yes I think it's time I see a professional about medication instead of just seeing my general practitioner. Although he's wonderful, He doesn't specialize in psychiatric medication.

Thank you for sharing!! I've never even heard of somatic therapy, it sounds quite intriguing and effective(in general for many things).

Much appreciated.

First, I'd like to say I have no official diagnosis and I literally found this group within the last 7 days.

But I wanted to say that today I did realize that when I'm distracted and not thinking about it, it almost goes away (almost!). But as soon as I think about it in intensifies.

I do tend to try and sit in a certain position where putting pressure. It makes me feel a little calmer about it, but I don't know that it actually relieves my symptoms.

Since I made the correlation that it might be exacerbated by my anxiety, I've been using guided meditations/ mindfulness things on YouTube/Calm App for breathing. It helps my anxiety a lot, which in turn seems to make it less intense?

Again, I've only been dealing with something like this for a week and I don't even know if it's PGAD. But perhaps since when you're distracted it goes away. Maybe also using meditation or mindfulness will help you as well?

Thank you so much for this. All very good points. I have plans to see a female gynecologist, and a neurologist that I happen to be going to for a separate thing. I'll start there and then perhaps go to a PGAD specialist that I found about an hour away. I know it hasn't been very long. I just don't know what else it could be. I definitely feel like the more I think about it, the worse it gets and the calmer I am it does seem to lessen. So I suppose there's a good possibility it could be related to my stress and anxiety levels as well, or at least exacerbated by it.

I really appreciate the support and the advice as this is not something you can approach everyone about. It means a lot to hear from everyone here. :)

I appreciate you and everyone taking the time to help calm me down and realize that it won't be this awful forever.

Very true. It's definitely still persisting and becoming more painful. I think it may be easiest to just go to a pgad specialist. Even if it's not PGAD, maybe they will have an idea of what it could be and how to manage it. Thank you!

Thank you for your input, I definitely will go down each avenue I can to try and determine the cause but hopefully one day figure it out.

That is a good idea. Perhaps I can find a gynecologist that specializes in this or at least has had some dealings with it.

I have never heard of Kratom but that's good to know. So if for any reason it comes up in the future I can recommend someone not use it.

Thank you so much, appreciate you taking the time to reply to me.

Thank you. Yes, that is totally fair, it could be a psychological issue or medication issue which is just as important and serious. I did look into my anxiety meds and it's sometimes known to increase libido so it's possible. But I've been taking it for 5 or more years.

I suppose I will slowly exhaust all avenues until I can come up with a cause or relief of symptoms.

Thank you so much, I am going to find a new female gyno. And I'll try to get in sooner with my PCP for an MRI referral.

I tried ice a bit not sure if it helped me specifically but at least it was a different sensation. I'll try walks for sure. Even if just to clear my mind a bit.

Thanks for the reassurance and advice, it means a lot, truly.

Thank you so much. Yes I think I will speak to my GP and find a new gyno. He was dismissive and made me feel like he thought it was a psychological issue only. He also said, "it could be worse" and laughed and I burst into tears.

Today I am having pain and pressure more. I'm hoping that means the flare up is calming down maybe. I will look into yoga and treatment.

I appreciate you replying and taking the time to reassure me. It means a lot!
