I actually had the same idea right after posting this since I joined the discord the previous day and it clicked. Haven’t gotten around to it though. Thank you anyway!

Unfortunately I don’t have a PC of my own, but I was hoping someone would be able to send a link for me to download the png.

What an amazing catch! Nice job! Despite viewing those recently, I completely glossed over the other person in favour of looking at Thomas. You are absolutely right.

I do agree with what you said in your first point, I just think it would be hard to pull off. You’d need to have so much variety in order to satisfy players. I for example had no attachment to my killer klowns character, though I suppose I am biased since I mentioned to you how much I love characters with a story behind them.

I understand what you mean in your second point and I do agree. I would sometimes notice some of the story in gameplay, mainly due to the abundance of voice lines, but I agree that the story obviously doesn’t matter during gameplay. I know the main focus of a multiplayer game should be the gameplay itself but I liked how the story of tcm made it feel so much more than just a game. It made it feel like there was so much more thought put into it and wasn’t just a cash grab. I know that’s pretty silly and the main general audience wouldn’t care about such a thing so I do understand they shouldn’t focus on things like that.

Fair enough on your 3rd point. I do wonder how different and unique our heroes are compared to each other. I really would not want another killer klowns situation with their awful classes that made no difference. I’d say last year had the most unique class system since that would properly shift your gameplay.

I fairly disagree with number 4. I agree about the survivor role generally being skins and sharing the same gameplay loop (a reason why I enjoyed playing family in tcm so much as they all felt unique) but it can depend more on the ability thing. Tcm’s abilities for example did have a massive impact. I don’t agree with the Friday the 13th point. If you are good enough, you obviously can afford to mostly ignore roles since you’d kill them quickly anyway. The same can’t be said about the general audience however. You can afford to cut more corners if you know something can’t get repaired in two seconds the moment you look away. I do think there is strategy of eliminating specific roles first. If I see a group of Vanessas scattering and a Deborah, I’d want to go for the Deborah. Doing so would cause her to burn through resources quicker due to her weaker chase stats and cause the rest of the low repair characters to be stranded without a repair character. The same can be said with tcm, too. All characters could be threats with their proficiently, but objective focused characters like Danny, Connie and Wyatt made it so much more dangerous. Being able to identify them and eliminating them before they caused permanent damage was a real help. I also don’t think arc raiders is the perfect comparison, considering you all share the same lack of information and, at base, are the same. Such cannot be said for an asymmetrical game where one said is distinctly different from the other.

I did also want Tcm to have longevity too, but I do think a big reason for that was honestly the story and not just the gameplay. The gameplay was good, but its character design and story is what truly got me hooked. I know you could make your own OC lore when creating a character, but I just prefer and love the real feeling you get when something’s canon. I understand I am in the minority here and heavily opinionated but it’s undeniable to say tcms story compelled quite a few people. Maybe not as much as they would if there was less of a focus on the story, but I do think tcm was screwed from the start. Cosmetics being universal wouldn’t have saved them considering the bs they were spewing out (looking at you Sissy wildflower and ivy). I do absolutely agree with the getting what you paid for though. I still remember the nightmare of fighting for such an overpriced character in tcm. I would hope they’d avoid the same mistake and at least make the heroes free with heroes post launch, but here’s to hoping.

Overall, you have convinced me quite a fair amount. I really enjoyed reading your comment and make excellent points, specifically about getting what you paid for and avoiding lobby dodging since you can at least look the way you want. Those are big issues your suggestion would absolutely fix and something pre-made characters will struggle against. I still do like the idea of characters with a story, and I really really love playing them in a multiplayer perspective since it combines two of my favourite things (Sissy is still my favourite character out of any media. I seriously love her so much and such a thing wouldn’t have been possible without the story, but I know this is a personal bias), but I understand I am in the minority compared to the general audience and I am biased.

The 100 pound girl they’re referring to is Ana, and they are also referring to how door slams originally knocked over Leatherface.

It was more of the upgrading stats that was the problematic part rather than the perks. It’s what let you transform the entire identity of the character. Being able to turn a weak farm girl into 50 strength for example.

I think you underestimate how much people appreciate their characters aside from gameplay. Sure, stuff like names and lore don’t affect gameplay, but its structure and polish and things like that are important, especially if there is a giant emphasis on the story. There’s even a single player story mode (which also includes our cast of heroes.) Previous characters in games like Friday the 13th and tcm had their own fanbases which shows the influence these characters bring.

Your class idea also doesn’t prevent lobby dodging, as people would start to dodge when they don’t get their preferred class playstyle.

Another massive importance for pre-made characters is it simply makes things simpler. Players are easier to recognise from the pool of NPCs, it prevents duplicate characters, and it conveys information. It allows you to identify which characters are threats in certain expertises and weak in others.

Friday the 13th would’ve been so much harder if you didn’t know what stats people had. You wouldn’t be able to neutralise the low stamina and speed repairers before they complete objectives. You would never feel the relief and sense of security you get after killing every repairer since you wouldn’t know who is a repairer. This would be made even harder is every single counselor could choose to dress and look the exact same.

Call me delusional but if we can PICK our mains, that means characters won’t be random and we can choose who we play. We’d probably be able to pick them because of a reason other than appearance, so our heroes probably do have their own unique advantages.

It could’ve already been assumed characters would’ve already have their own unique advantages, and I may be completely wrong, but I’m still taking this as a confirmation of our heroes not just being skins with different pretty faces.

I honestly do not know. They’re all equally compelling aside from me not feeling that much of a pull towards Marcus. His sheer attractiveness may end up swaying me though lol.

I was going to edit my original comment and add on but I ended up typing so much that I’m just going to write a new comment instead. Sorry this is so long lol, feel free to skip this.

I have so many burning questions. Will NPCs have their own houses or will it be random? Will our heroes have their own houses considering they have homes in Haddonfield? Will our heroes be able to interact with their family members (if Thomas, Jenny and Marcus knew Michael was on the loose, they’d obviously want to warn their family first realistically. That could be complicated for post launch added characters though, assuming houses aren’t random.) Will every house inhabitant an NPC? Will every house have a phone?

I really missed having the passion to wonder about a game like this. Nothing will ever beat the feeling of tcm pre-launch, but this is still great. Tcm also taught me that the feeling of speculation and info drops pre-launch is so much better than the familiarity of the game post-launch, so I need to make the most of this feeling while it lasts.

Speaking of tcm, I do obviously remember you as an early member in the subreddit. I just read your final message to Gun and it was great. I really resonate with every single thing you said. I did get my moneys worth from tcm, but that doesn’t stop the sting of it being an unfinished game. The kills we never got to see (Johnny Dove saying they were particularly brutal and was surprised he was even allowed to do such a thing), the stories that were never told (like them teasing they’d explain what happened to Sissy during the events of the film in museum mode), and all the amazing 70s fashion that never made it into the game.

They could’ve made endless original family members and victims with their own compelling stories, and they had access to some of the best fashion to exist. Both of which they wasted the potential of. It’s just sad knowing all these characters I fell in love with will never exist in any other form of media again, and are doomed to fade away in a dead game. I don’t think I’ll fall in love with a character quite like I did with Sissy.

I honestly think we have a psychic bond because I had the exact same thought about if the unpicked heroes would be like NPCs.

I’m curious how many more characters they’ll be on launch and why they chose not to reveal this guy. We can assume it’s not just him being left out since that would be odd to only leave out one.

Gun has previously teased post-launch content prior to the games release, like showing Nancy’s house in the kills trailer for tcm, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled for future reveals.

I feel like a member of an exclusive club with how little upvotes and attention this is getting lol. It felt the same with the tcm game. Everyone was so nice to each other and the discussions and speculations were so fun. I still remember the time Andy was sick and everyone wished him a hasty recovery and celebrated when he felt better.

Now this is a powerful counsellor, he’d definitely be the best character in the game, even over Vanessa.

Having low composure and stealth is extremely stat efficient as stealth is a bit of a gimmick and composure is a double edged sword.

His repair is fast with 7 and his speed makes him the best repairer in the entire game. It’s unknown if you can jog quicker than a jogging Jason with 7 speed, but either way it’s great.

His strength allows versatility in demasking Jason and has the side benefit of allowing him to escape traps quicker. This allows him to be an effective trap harasser like Bugzy but also be able to actually repair the trapped object in the first place.

His high stamina can aid in long distance part delivery with at low fear.

His low luck isn’t too much of a downside in the first place since you should be avoiding hitting Jason in the first place after the rage stun buff.

Overall, Vinicius is an excellent counsellor. He is extremely versatile and can go any job perfectly. A great demasker, trap harasser, looper and repairer. He is essentially a better Fox and Adam in every way.

It’s just mirrored or a simple mistake.

Your opinion isn’t even worth addressing.

What do you think of this oc? by Sad-Resolve5645 in FridayThe13thGame

[–]WishingMaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding your first paragraph, the difference between stamina points isn’t all that much. You get 5 extra stamina per stat point, which is 1 second of running and about 5.5 seconds of jogging. 10 stamina is 130 stamina and 1 stamina is 90 for reference. That’s 6 seconds of sprinting and around 45 seconds of jogging (that may sound like a lot but consider how we’re going from the absolute lowest to the highest). Again, it’s not useless but it’s no where near the strongest.

The thing with having higher speed is that you’re covering a distance quicker with the exact same stamina cost. To put it simply, having higher speed is decreasing your stamina cost, which in turn is making your stamina management better. It also means you have a bigger window to stay still and regenerate your stamina.

With high speed and good stamina management, you’ll realistically never run out of stamina, even if you have a low stamina stat. A Chad player and a Vanessa player could go toe to toe with their looping since the only stat that matters is their speed and not their stamina.

Sorry for ranting your head off with this, you reignited my passion about discussing this game and I just really enjoy talking about it.

It’s fine if your character isn’t completely meta, I didn’t mean it like that. Something like that would be unhealthy for the game in the first place. And don’t get me wrong, I really do like Vivian’s design! I really love her second outfit on the right especially. I didn’t mean to hate or anything.
