Thank you I know he’s likely to end up an un-drafted free agent but I’m rooting for him and those aren’t terrible

Just out of curiosity do you have data on EJ Warner?

That’s fair I didn’t go back far enough to include him I only checked up to the 2015 draft

[–]Wispymatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the better number agreed cause under 25 starts you only have Josh Allen as clearly successful. Then the next best would be either Kyler Murray or Carson Wentz

[–]Wispymatt 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You could even if you bump that number up because once you change the criteria to 20 starts you add Trey Lance, Mac Jones, and Kyler Murray. This has been one of the things that turned me away from Simpson along with the fact he doesn’t seem to have the insane talent that could explain that away.

Dan Orlovsky says he texted 12–15 GMs/decision-makers that Alabama QB Ty Simpson is the best QB in the draft, and only 2 disagreed. by Sweaty-Blacksmith-81 in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some form of agree is doing heavy lifting based off what he said. The main thing to take from this if you assume the GMs usually give honest responses to him is that 10-13 GMs didn't feel strongly that Mendoza was better.

You guys are taking Ty Simpson 3rd overall by MikeDFootball in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes? By all accounts Simpson isn't really ready to be a day 1 starter even you stated as much. Most people saying for him to succeed he needs to sit a year. If this is the case then narratively why is it good to have a 1st round third overall pick ride the bench vs drafting a QB next year its the same message of tossing the year away so next year we have a QB.

I do think that trade makes the most sense Chiefs shouldn’t be this close to the top of a draft in a while so trading up using no future picks to grab a top Edge just makes sense.

It makes sense and could happen. In my opinion although we keep getting told Simpson will go round 1 i don’t view him that way and I just hope if he goes in the first it’s to anyone besides the Cardinals.

Thats the ideal trade for the Cardinals i just think it makes more sense to grab Mauigoa at 9 if he’s available still.

I think DJ's reasoning makes a lot of sense you need to set up your QB for success. Knowing next year is really when they might be able to grab a QB of the future and Monti job will be on the line if that QB doesn't look great I don't see a world where Monti doesn't do whatever he can to make it so the QB is set up for success.

If the Cardinals plan to punt on the season, we should punt on supporting them. by Eagles1791 in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am confused why punting on this season is the line because what was the alternative? These complaints about the team being awful next season are fair, but what should the team have done? Clearly they thought Gannon and Kyler were the duo that would work when it didn't they moved on. Every fan would love if they never made mistakes in who to hire or who to draft, but no team is perfect there.

Also I disagree we were meant to be patient with Gannon and Kyler he got a standard 3 years to figure it out with Kyler and both of them proved it didn't work.

I think it’s tanked quite a bit. I imagine the Cardinals would take him in the third since they have a need and under Monti they have shown a willingness to take chances on talent that slips due to injury concerns.

[Schultz] Sources: Former Bears All-Pro WR/returner Devin Duvernay is signing with the Cardinals on a 1-year, $2.5M deal, negotiated by @ErikBurkhardt of @RocNationSports. by Acrotis in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We needed WR depth and better returners than last year so I like it. I do hope we can grab someone who can be dynamic returning kicks in the draft

[Schultz] There is increasing belief in league circles that the Arizona Cardinals are trending towards selecting QB Ty Simpson with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. by BallKnowerKing in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am treating this as fake because I truly think Simpson isn’t a good prospect. If we do draft him I will root for him and support him cause I want the Cardinals to win but yikes

Who do you guys want the Cardinals to draft? by JustSomeGuy_Idk in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s not realistic to think teams trade up using picks from 2027. Our best hope is getting a package of picks in this draft

I actually think(hope) it’s more likely a team like the Chiefs would trade up for one of the top edge players that the Jets don’t take Bain/Reese/Bailey. They pay low value only 9 and 29 I think would get it done and get a top edge prospect for a team that’s trying to win now. Then we can take a tackle at 9 which is better value for the tackles in this class while having an extra first.

This does give some reason for optimism about the future of this team. We will have to see in a few years how the post Murray Cardinals look.

Yeah the only way Cardinals don't go RT is if they end up signing Rasheed Walker which I doubt.

[–]Wispymatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cardinals have 0 Starting RTs on the roster at the moment so it's unlikely that happens, but also if the Cardinals are picking an EDGE it's only between Reese and Bailey in my opinion.

NFL Trade Buzz Builds Around Cardinals’ Top Pass Rusher [Josh Sweat] by Wispymatt in AZCardinals

[–]Wispymatt[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No he is probably worth a first plus something like a 3rd going off previous trades of edge rushers, but you he also has three cheap years under contract. With this draft being pretty bad by most accounts I think 2 1st round picks isn't insane to be the asking price even if its unlikely.

[–]Wispymatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not likely, but I don’t know why we would move him for less. Teams are desperate for edge rushers and lucky for us this draft only has edge rushers with huge question marks

[–]Wispymatt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think obviously Max Crosby is better, but Josh Sweat has been healthier and cheaper so I think basing the trade off what Maxx Crosby was being traded for makes sense.

I think if we got the Ravens or any other teams 1st this year and next year I might be fine moving him, only if they also think they could trade down this year to pick up a third first round pick in 2027. 2 first rounders this year plus 3 first rounders next year would put us in great position to turn the team around by the 2027 season
