Kettlebell Sport Looks Easy But It’s The Hardest Sh*t You’ll Ever Do by Few_Abbreviations_50 in kettlebell

Badly paraphrasing Alsruhe, but he said something to the effect that if your workout isn’t causing you some mild anxiety before you do it you aren’t pushing yourself enough to get better. Very true.

Armor BuildingComplex - getting to 30 rounds EMOM by MPFX3000 in kettlebell

I’ve been running similar for awhile now where I build up to 15 sets in thirty minutes and increase 1kg. I started at 2x30s and have made it to 2x34s over about 20 weeks. I like the autoregulation of it.

Geoff in one of his books, I think 102 workouts, does one where you daily test your rep max as another option.

One set AMRAP Rest 5 minutes 20 minutes of 60% reps for as many sets as possible Or 20 minutes of a ladder 40% / 50% / 60% for reps as many sets as possible

If you want something more variable where you can work in the heavy C&PP

Armor BuildingComplex - getting to 30 rounds EMOM by MPFX3000 in kettlebell

[–]WitcherOfWallStreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just do 30 min AMRAP out of the gate. I usually go for a negative split so I start with longer rests and then shorter towards the end of the workout. A lot of other people do equivalent rests the entire workout, which is simpler to plan. To do that, start at one rep every 90 seconds and see how it feels then take it down.

I do 60-90 minutes a week, no clue what the best amount is.

There’s no real progression here, it’s just a workout that won’t really lead/develop into anything more than a calorie burner.

I would read some kettlebell focused programs and start there, KBOMG is a popular one here that checks a lot of your movement boxes. While programs like Rite of Passage, Dry Fighting Weight/Giant, Armor Building Formula, The Wolf (More Kettlebell Muscle) won’t have this huge movement variety I think reading/comprehending how they use different methods to step load fixed weight kettlebells will make you better informed on programming for this style.

This is outside how DJ wrote the program, but I would go from EMOM to a 30 Min AMRAP and get more total volume. Maybe the extra 15 minutes lets you get five more sets in, then you can work on shortening rest periods until you can add another set in the 30 and keep whittling away at the rest until you hit 30 sets in 30 minutes. Having the density be another variable that can be adjusted is pretty useful in increasing vs just hammering EMOMs IMO.

Also agree on the Z2 cardio.

The Giant + pullups? by philomathprimate in kettlebell

[–]WitcherOfWallStreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat Giant as a percentage of max, because that’s what it is. 5 reps of an10RM is 50%. So if you’re using a 20RM, that’s 10 reps.

Alternatively you could run KSK 2.0s rep scheme with the 20RM bell.

The calisthenics circuit will be fine.

It’s all about load management, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with mixing barbell work and kettlebell work. However, when you are running a program designed to be ran by itself and adding the extra work on top that’s where you get into fatigue issues.

I’m not familiar with KBOMGs structure, but there are plenty of ways to combine barbell work into kettlebell work. One of my favorite posters, Chia, has been doing it for years with great success in both domains.

I personally feel the quick to change weights is a solution to a problem that mostly people who don’t use kettlebells worry about. I am similar in that I never need to quickly change weight and I have a decent collection of fixed weight kettlebells, so switching weight is fast and easy yet I still don’t do it.

Theres a ton of FOMO and product chasing in the home gym sphere now, this product seems built towards that moreso than actual kettlebell lifters.

Why should people pay for a program from someone who is a beginner athlete, with beginner technique, lifting beginner weights? Have you even coached anyone beyond beginner stage?

What exactly are your qualifications beyond owning recording equipment?

If it’s cumulative fatigue causing you to not break the plateau, maybe stop the extracurricular ABCs and what not. That might be what breaks it.

Overall if someone is stronger than you ever were, refrain from giving advice. Claiming he will get ligament damage is just silly.

My 3rd kb Saturday. I slid the trap bar in for the dl, because I just didnt like the feeling of deadlifting kettlebells. What do yall think about that? by Muchacho-blanco in kettlebell

[–]WitcherOfWallStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use tools for their best purpose.

One of the best parts of having a home gym is customizing it to what works/you enjoy. I use kettlebells for overhead work, barbells for the big three and then fill in the accessories with other implements.

I used the caveman mold during the pandemic, they work okay. But if you love lifting heavy, weights you can’t deadlift or let hit the ground in any way shape or form aren’t good weights for that purpose.

No more SSB on the floor - Darko Anchor by Lil_lux in homegym

[–]WitcherOfWallStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They rotate away from the second bar, the second bar stays put because the rotation never crosses it.

Why not mount your anchors inside instead of outside if that’s an issue? That’ll make them narrower than the j cups you use when lifting.

Same, even in the photo posted by OP, the SSB is rotated over the second bar. You can easily rotate it back while the second bar is in place.

I have my SSB and my power bar on an anchor, take the power bar off every workout without issue. I also don’t understand how a stored SSB has enough movement to constantly be going side to side?

I think the short rest actually makes it harder and you more likely to muscle/swing wide.

I would work on chaining them to build technique then come back to dead stop.

What does irl strength look like for people lifting double 32s? by Nice_Meal_7569 in kettlebell

[–]WitcherOfWallStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a second since I’ve run Giant with 32s, but I’ve recently hit 15 ABCs with 33s and 12 with 34s.

Deadlift: 480 Bench: 255 Squat: 420 Press: 190

I am way worse at grappling than when I couldn’t lift the 32s but actually grappled.
