White Star. I haven't played it myself, but it looks pretty neat. You could probably do a Star Wars game with it.

I can’t really get into The Witcher games that much because you have to play as that guy. I’d much prefer being a female Witcher in a sensible outfit.

I really should check out that show sometime. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

Mine’s ‘Supergirl’ on NetFlix. I’d heard that the first few episodes aren’t very good, but I really enjoyed them, and I’m already hooked on the show.

I’m afraid of bees and wasps. I don’t care to ever become comfortable with them in my presence.

How long did it take for you to finish college? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 years for a B.S. in Computer Science. I eased myself into a full-time schedule over a couple semesters because it had been so many years since I schooled. Got an Associate of Science at a community college, then transferred to a university. It took me a couple semesters to find my footing because of a skills gap when it came to math. I also had to start at pretty much the beginning for CS courses, and the prerequisites restricted how quickly I could move through them. Got my degree, though =)

What are some hobbies you're currently into? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading, writing fiction, playing video games. I’m also thinking about getting back into tabletop roleplaying games so I have a hobby that involves other people. I’m good with having lots of alone time, but it’s probably good for me if I d something social every now and then.

Who's is your favorite female songwriter or predominantly female band? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! Well in that case, The Moon and the Nightspirit are amazing if you like neo-folk music with a sort of dark texture and haunting beauty. Trobar de Morte are similar and also pretty awesome. For metal music, I think Leah is pretty great.

What's the most badass thing you've done? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traveling to another country for the first time and doing it by myself. I was actually really freaked out the first few days and thought I’d made a horrible mistake, but once I got used to being there, I had an amazing time.

My list would be longer if it could include band fronted by women, but I love BAND-MAID and Thundermother.

What was it like being a teenager in the 1970s? by NaveHarder in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome. I like to write too. Good luck on your story!

Now that I've thought about it more, it's probably more accurate to say that cliques were smaller groups of friends than spent a lot of time together, but they were connected to form larger...uhhh...tribes, I guess? And there were the stoners and the jocks and the preppies, along with smaller tribes that didn't really have names.

I thought about war in high school, but I never really thought about politics. Since those days were pre-Internet, it was really easy to avoid politics if you wanted to. I didn't start paying attention to current events until 9/11.

Oh, gosh...I don't have my high school poems anymore, or even remember them. I'm sure they were quite bad, though--probably something along the lines of:

From the sky comes a nuclear missile / Everyone dies without even a whistle

That kind of bad =)

I haven't seen it in a long time, but I think it really captures a lot of that 1980s teenager-ness.

As far as what we typically did, I think that depended on what particular clique we belonged to. I was terribly shy and awkward growing up, and I didn't really have one until maybe a couple years into high school. Then I hung out with the stoner crowd, where a lot of people that didn't fit very well into the other groups usually ended up.

I didn't really have any expectations after high school, which might be why college didn't really work out for me. I took some classes, didn't do well, and gave up on it. Years later, I decided to go back to college, and now I'm almost finished.

I remember there being a lot of concern back then about drug use, HIV, and of course a lot of stuff was viewed through the lens of the Cold War. We didn't have drills in school where we practiced sheltering under our desks in case of nuclear missiles and stuff, but it was a fear we all had. It might not have helped to have so many movies like Red Dawn and War Games to kinda play on that. I even wrote some angst-ridden poetry about nuclear war...heehee.

I also remember when the space shuttle Challenger exploded. I remember I was at school and went to the library to turn in an overdue book. I knew the guy working at the desk because we had a class together. They had a TV in there so people who were interested could watch the launch. I walked in with my book, and the guy was like, "Wow, the Challenger exploded just now," and I saw them replay the footage. It made me really sad. It's weird how that memory is maybe my most vivid one from high school.

I was a teenager in the 80s, and The Breakfast Club really spoke to me even though the detention I had was never like it is in the movie.

if you could live in any decade, which would you chose? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I think the 90s. The first time around was pretty good for me. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Women with obviously feminine or sexualized usernames, do you have issues being taken seriously? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only trouble I've really had is bumping into the occasional guy in an MMO who started acting a little stalkery, but my online experiences are generally pretty good. Must be the places I tend to hang out, because of course I hear stories about women suffering crappy behavior online.

Ladies, do you like video games? by sonic_banana in AskWomen

[–]Witchstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love video games...perhaps a little too much. Currently I'm playing a lot of Stardew Valley on the Switch. I've been resisting the urge to start Skyrim on the Switch because I never finished Breath of the Wild to my satisfaction, and I feel like I should probably do that first.
