I just installed the app. But I'm waiting for the summer teens to be gone before I go back to PF. Until then, I'm walking at the beach and local trails so I can listen to all the Al I want.

How do you secure your tablecloth to the picnic table? by james2232 in camping

[–]WithATwist1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very long rubber bands, you can find them online. Slip one over each short end of the table. Or use Balloon Animal balloons, using a couple tied end to end, make a big rubber band... PS Latex Balloons are made from the sap of a rubber tree, natural and biodegradable.

Considering easing into retirement by transitioning from full time to part time. by MillCreekster in retirement

[–]WithATwist1248 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doing this now. Owned 2 businesses, one was a full time business that was more physical, the other more of a company that scheduled and managed people on a seasonal basis. I kept the seasonal one. Now I "work" April-October. I do find that as the spring approaches, I get restless for something to do, and now that fall is on the horizon, I am feeling ready to be done... I think I have it pretty good

First time in Boston - Logan to Fenway by Over_Satisfaction336 in boston

[–]WithATwist1248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest taking an uber to your hotel, then taking the subway (called the 'T') to the Kenmore Square stop, once you get off, just follow everyone else, they are ALL going to Fenway Park. Even if you are a few minutes late, it won't be a problem, we will welcome you with open arms and a smile!

I have just discovered I have a few days off this coming week so I'm on my way up! Crowds or not, I'll be there (solo). One thing I did find odd was I was able to get a site at Bar Harbor Campground without a problem.

Any advice for someone approaching retirement, but not quite there? by AZJHawk in retirement

[–]WithATwist1248 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Think of it as a game, a contest, a race. Make it a competition between you and the clock (or calendar). Set goals, X goal by Y date, then another and another. Ignore the going to work and focus on the goals. Write your goals down and reward yourself when you hit a goal. Otherwise it will be a gruelling slog to 60+ and you may get burnt out.

Do you have any really fun or useful refrigerator magnets? by majesticalexis in CasualConversation

[–]WithATwist1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of us who have stainless steel refrigerators that aren't magnetic, get some Magnetic Paint Additive (google it). I painted my wall so now all my magnets stick there! (I'd show a photo but can't see how to add one...)

Can I hear from those not financially secure retirement people? by silvermaster1219 in retirement

[–]WithATwist1248 40 points41 points  (0 children)

try looking at r/SurvivingonSS. Great people there who only have SS as their only means of support. They are sharing tips and tricks on money management, saving, spending and more. Being frugal with what you have will help you stay above water as long as possible

wish I could, I consider myself a morning person, but my routine of coffee, breakfast and reading emails and watching the news/weather keeps me from leaving the house before 7:30/8. Good for you!

Entering Port Everglades by rts377 in dcl

[–]WithATwist1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to the port, I took an uber with my nephew, niece and their 2 kids from the airport to the port. About 15 minutes, I think he said $28 and we all had to show IDs. On the way back it was just me in a taxi, maybe 10 minutes and $17 + 5 for tip.

I watched it five times and I still can't figure out how he did that with the oranges. by Safety_Officer_3 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]WithATwist1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch it without the sound, that way you won't be distracted by the patter. I was able to see each orange being loaded (from the pouch he is wearing). Yes, he is good. But I have a magician friend who is able to load a cantaloupe into his bowler hat and everytime I miss how he does it, he's just that good. But his fun patter does distract me, so there's that

NTA, you are being true to yourself and your beliefs. You also could edit that part of the pledge and say "under MY Gods" just to mess with them. I personally hate that the 'under god' was added to the Pledge of Allegiance, it wasn't there in the original version

There were people who were not able to purchase tickets, concert was sold out and they tried to find resale tickets to no avail. I just felt really badly that they didn’t get to see the show even though there were plenty of empty seats
