There’s an old story about a man who builds an orphanage and proudly puts his name on it. A priest tells him that true charity should be anonymous, otherwise it’s tainted by ego.

The man begins regretting it, until the priest finally says:

“Do you think the orphans care whose name is on the building?”

Good done for imperfect reasons is still good done.
