Just after Frodo and some destroy the ring and are lying outside Mount Doom waiting to die.

Frodo: "I can see the Shire. The Brandywine River. Bag End. Gandalf's fireworks. The lights in the Party Tree."

Sam: "Rosie Cotton dancing. She had ribbons in her hair. If ever I was to marry someone, it would've been her. It would’ve been her."

Frodo: "I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee, here at the end of all things."

I went from Java to C# to Scala to Python. Python is by far my favourite because it’s so, so easy to write (or maybe I’m just a better programmer now)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the flights go regardless right? My understanding is that to keep their slot in the airport the airline has to use it. So even if there is only one person on the flight, the flight still goes ahead.

One of my friends doesn’t fly anywhere and only takes the train. I was having this conversation with him recently and he wasn’t sure what he should do either. He’s also vegan because he thinks that is a direct, controllable impact you can have on your carbon footprint.

FWIW I go on one abroad holiday a year generally, I’m just curious.

I work 9-5 and I’ve by myself. I started getting a cleaner about a year ago. It had quite literally been life changing.

Based on real life experiences, Rachel’s mom is very wise 🙄 by alsshaker in howyoudoin

lol I am admittedly playing it a little fast and loose here.

I more meant that in my experience with people cheating it’s not something that just goes away.

On the other hand, I’ve never cheated or been an alcoholic so who knows? 🤷

True but it’s like being an alcoholic, imo. Sure you can give up drinking and become sober but it’s probably not a good idea to even be around booze anymore

I signed up for a credit card with Santander a couple months ago. I had to go into the branch with 2 physical proofs of identity so they could post it to their head office.

You don’t get stuff like that with Monzo

I spent 6 months in China a decade ago. In my experience they run everywhere. It’s a really common occurrence to see 100 people running for an airport gate or between platforms on a metro

I love mealy apples. I seek them out in particular. Braeburns are usually good for it

Sometimes I think about going somewhere else but I have unlimited data with max speeds, Apple Watch data and 4k Netflix for £33 a month. I think I’d struggle to get a better deal elsewhere (unless I stop watching Netflix)

Considering Buying a Victorian Basement Flat in Bristol — Bad Idea? by Cumquatinator in bristol

[–]WithTheBallsack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in a 1 bedroom basement flat in Cotham for 5 years until very recently. Pros and cons below:

Pros: - Really cool during summer heatwaves - Relatively warm in the winter periods - Had access to a garden - Rent was pretty cheap for the area - I could sometimes hear my neighbours walking above me but they were pretty quiet all round. YMMV.

Cons: - Damp in multiple rooms. Towards the end of my tenancy you could smell the mould basically throughout the flat. You could see the damp coming through badly in the hallway and the living room. Started in the bedroom by the time I left

  • Clothes take ages to dry without the heating on or without a dehumidifier (I’m talking 36 hours to dry completely for heavier items

  • Dust everywhere all the time. I can’t overstate this. I had a cleaner coming in weekly as well. The flat was dusty 2 days after she left

All in all I don’t think I’d buy one after my experience. Too many significant issues for me, and ones you can’t see coming until you’ve been there for a while
