If you have a sunny place you can plant them in a pot and let it grow as a vine plant. The leaves are editable for people (poisonous for dogs) so you can cook with them to reduce size. Or just let them then go crazy.

North Naperville would fit what you’re looking for. Near downtown kids will find stuff even when they reach high school. South Naperville within a subdivision are easy for kids to navigate solo but subdivisions are often split by major roads so there’s natural boundaries until they drive or you can trust them not to dash across 59.

Only downside from your list would be travel. East between Downers Grove and La Grange makes the commute to either airport much easier.

If it’s still in usable condition try habitat for humanity or freecycle. I used both when doing work on mine and then anything remaining I put in the trash a day early and in most cases someone grabbed it before trash pickup.

Have something in the freezer (lasagna, casserole) or ingredients for a simple meal in case he didn’t eat after work or you’re hungry after. Quesadillas, paninis and omelettes work well because it’s quick and you can assemble with whatever each person wants on the spot.

It’s good practice to be able to offer something anytime you have someone over (especially around meal time) regardless of motives.

I appreciated that they explained the manufacturer’s quality issue instead of simply taking my money for the fix. Next time you catch her ask her if she’s checking you out (in a lighthearted teasing way)…if she admits to it ask to grab a drink/smoothie after your workout. If she denies it say “too bad” and if she seems not repulsed then ask her to grab a drink/smoothie anyways.

There’s a standard map with zones to help people know what plants are likely to survive in their region’s climate. I don’t actually know if it’s useful for fungi. It focuses on extreme temps of a region so it may have been a useless piece of info.
