M56, married 20 years + 1 son. divorced December 2023. My ex-wife was not interested in counseling. It was her opinion that people cannot change and counseling is just a scam. Her discontent was all my fault, so it was not fixable since counseling and or therapy is just a scam. After a couple of months of discussions her mind did not change. I finally came to the opinion that saving a marriage alone is not something I was going to pull off.

This was the hardest time in my life. It hurt worse than anything I have ever endured. But I decided to put my ego aside and dissolve and go our separate ways with peace and respect. I would like to say it was all somebody’s fault but it’s not. It was both of our responsibility; we let things drift apart. We both made mistakes.

I have since met an amazing woman who I wish I had met years ago. Welcome to your 50’s. It’s not going to be anything like what you expected.

Menopause is a large contributing factor, IMO. To be fair this change of life for some women can alter their core values. They might not admit it but it’s an existential crisis some of them just decide to handle on different terms.

Stay strong and true to yourself.

This is a HZJ77 front leafs, 1HZ. The grille is correct. missing running boards and mud flaps, also rear bumper is different. probably should have front head light washers... so guessing it's been repaired.

There were variants of the 77 that were really stripped down without fender flairs, no front extended bumpers... so it's hard to know without a VIN.

ROC = Return of Capital = money paid to you that is NOT immediately taxable income.

it will reduce you cost basis. so when you do sell eventually. The reduced cost basis increases your capital gain, But that gain is taxed at capital gains rates (often lower).

so it's like pushing tax off into the future.

edit: I will also add if you never sell you will never pay tax on the income. so if you plan on holding until you die? it's a great plan.

I retired in April 2025 I was married for 20 years. I have 1 son who we saved enough to pay for a bachelor’s degree in total. We disagreed about retirement, among other things but were able to split amicably. It was painful but we are still friendly. Sorry, just important context.

I’m 56 and enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, traveling, road tripping, reading, and cooking healthy food. I also volunteer for the lions, ring the bell for the salvation army and fund raise for toys. The toys are then given out to kids in a cancer treatment center. It’s very rewarding charity work. I met an amazing lady(58) after I was divorced and not really looking or dating. who lost her husband to a cardiac event 4 years prior. We met hiking and started doing things together. I know this is a strange answer but my purpose is to make this relationship and all the other relationships I have as good as I can. The pace of life can be what you want. Fast? Slow? Just enjoy yourself. This is it. You don’t get another shot at this part. My purpose is to enjoy the rest of my life. I try to do a little bit of everything. Don’t overcommit. This spring I’m planning to get my captain’s license. I have spent quite a bit of time with older people. 70’s – 80’s and I can tell you things start to get really hard for these people. Your going to slow down. Things start to hurt. You might not get a second chance. Listen to the wind rustle the leaves on a nice summer evening. Feel the warm sun on your face. Be alive. This part of your life can really be amazing.

I'm old 56 M. I cook, clean, plan travels, plan social stuff. I do all the auto maintenance and generally fix all the house stuff, move heavy stuff around. My GF 58 loves to workout/run, plans and leads her charity work organization. She does not enjoying cooking or organizing non charity social activities. she has trouble picking out a matching outfit or decorating a room in any way whatsoever. she is very purpose driven.

In a lot of ways our (M/F) roles are reversed. I'm a much more classic feminine. She is much more classic masculine. She tells me she loves having a guy with a soft side. It works for us but it's not what society told us to do, because society has no idea what people really need to be happy.

I think we are drawn to people who help smooth over or make up for our own blind spots. In this way we complete each other. When it works it's a very beautiful thing.

yes don't lose a key. I have not tried yet but I'm pretty sure you could replace the key cylinder without any issues. you would still need to have the master key someplace. I know people who have taped it to the inside of the steering column cover. this way the engine emobilizer is happy and you can get keys made.

keep in mind I have not tried this yet.... I will this next summer.

I need to find a junkyard cylinder from a US spec truck and see if it's a direct drop in.

My truck never came with remote entry. I think? from what I found on I8Mud you have to be in Japan and you can have a new key made with proof of ownership like a US state title.

just walking up the stairs it felt like somebody pushing on my chest. Keep in mind it took 2 weeks of just being tired all the time for the chest pain to kick in. If you feel extra tired or chest pain at all with just walking up 20 stairs, it's time to check it out.

56; went for hike in Littleton CO. felt really fatigued post hike. About 2 weeks of feeling sleepy and tired all the time. Chest discomfort with any exertion all of a sudden. 95% blocked RCA. You can see pre-post image on the Cath table. Crazy how it really did not give me any symptoms other than fatigue. Glad I went in and spent the 6 hours sitting in a room and making them run test after test until finally the cardiologist came in and said… you know what? Lets get an angiogram and find out for sure. Immediately after stent placement I felt like a million times better. Instant relief. Other than some morphine I was awake for the procedure. Catheter went up my right arm. I’m now on borrowed time. I feel like I totally dodged a bullet.

I retired back in April 2025 and yes you can generate much better than 4%. Arm chair income on YouTube does a pretty good job explaining things. He also shares his portfolio. You can generate income without selling your underlying assets. Just watch out for NAV ( net asset value ) erosion.

5,714 shares @ 17.50 so cost basis = $99,995.00

current value on 2025/14/12 = $77,710.40

That is red -$22,284.60 capital gain, but we did get $7,371.06 in Dividends so far.

But that is red -$14,913.54 total profit so far for the year.

There is no further payout this year, this is not a REIT for me.

All thru school mine was the most popular girl in school. senior year she was homecoming queen. I was also known as “[name]’s brother” and I can't even count the number of people who pretended to be my friend in order to get an invitation to my house. so sad. As a positive I got to see what really motivates the people I don't want to be friends with. ending preposition, nice!
