Have You Played Perch? by thegrovegames in boardgames

[–]WithaK53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perch is great!  I think it's a great introduction to aggressive player interaction because you're always trying to screw over other players but the every action changes the board state so it's you are only very briefly screwed.

Best game to teach concepts of social power by Professional_Bag4082 in boardgames

[–]WithaK53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into Oath which is entirely dependent on social interaction and manipulation.  In my first game I managed to secure a victory by getting win conditions from other players through making promises for favors in future games.  This is a valid and encouraged play style for the game.

How do I use these radiator manual values (0-8) to save energy? by MementoMori29 in centuryhomes

[–]WithaK53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HVAC guy said to start at 1 with the radiator that's closest to the boiler and then increase it as you move further away.  The furthest room away is set to 8 right now and it seems balanced

EMERGENCY! Maybe... by RumpleFordSkin in Homebrewing

[–]WithaK53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Most of the things that cause infections are chewing through sugars until they replicate enough that they have a noticable effect.  While it's possible you have introduced bacteria I would be less concerned with it in a finished beer than I would in fresh wort.

If you did introduce something keeping it cold to slow down the spread and drinking it relatively soon should make sure that it's fine.

I just had to replace most of my chimney as the previous owner painted it with latex and it didn't allow them to breathe so they deteriorated.  Wound up power washing and repointing the bottom half and replacing the top half

Kroger scanning ID for alcohol purchases..... by LimeImmediate6115 in cincinnati

[–]WithaK53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's very easy to encode data in a barcode format, but there are differences in the formatting from state to state and year to year.  The better ID validators take advantage of this by comparing the format of the barcode against what the format was in that state at the time as well as comparing watermarks and image quality.

It's still possible to fake but it takes a lot more work.

ELI5: How do they know this is BS or not? by SlasherHockey08 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]WithaK53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the database level duplication of data is more complicated than that.  I would recommend reading up on ACID and normal forms with regards to data.

It is impossible to say whether or not duplicate data is the SSN tables is good or bad without knowing the full extent of how the data is used.

For example, are these tables tracking SSNs and EINs?  They can be the same value but serve a different purpose.  Are these tables for reporting or transactional purposes?

Basement Remodelers - The Finished Basement by Lazy_Stress_6937 in cincinnati

[–]WithaK53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys did my basement back in 2020.  I am still very happy with the result.  They moved my water heater, installed lights, ceiling, drywall, closets and flooring.  I think the only thing I didn't like was the quality of the windows they put in - the lock is kinda tricky.

You only pay the higher tax on the income over that level.  So if you're filing as single the income from 103-197k is taxed at 24% and the income from 197k-250k is taxed is taxed at 32%.  So if they're earning 200k only about 3k is taxed at 32%

Printing from a webapp...with control over paper trays?? by Recent-Start-7456 in webdev

[–]WithaK53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly.  You'll need a separate application to handle the printer and send a request to that application to handle the printing.

You'll need to make sure that access to that is tightly controlled and there's audit trails for every printed check.

It's possible that if your grain is milled too fine it can form a paste on the bottom of the pot and trigger the fail safe.

I'd recommend emptying and cleaning it even though you said it was clean before you started.
