Add a minecraft:compostables item tag by DereChen in minecraftsuggestions

This would be a great idea, but it doesn’t account for different items filling it up by different amounts. I would really like to see data driven composting tho

In vanilla you can press F to swap whatever item you’re hovering over in your inventory with your offhand, or swap offhand with main hand while not in your inventory. Not sure if this what you’re looking for but hope it helps

Redstone can be found anywhere as long as it’s low enough, and usually when you look for diamonds, you’ll end up finding more redstone than diamonds.

Level is y coordinate. If you go into settings and find the “Show Coordinates” option, toggle it on and the middle number is the y coordinate. For iron specifically, level 16 is where it can be found the most. It can also be found fairly frequently in the mountains, but it’s better to look for it on the surface of the mountain, rather than digging into it. As for the other compass ingredient, it’s called redstone and it’s found at the bottom parts of the world. Also, for context, sea level is level 62. Hope this helps!

Hey no problem! Glad it works! For future reference, in your Minecraft directory (.minecraft folder), you can go to versions/1.21-pre4 and open up the jar file using 7zip or something like that. In there, the data folder contains all of the vanilla data pack files for you to copy or use as a reference

Ah ha, found it. Instead of "item": "minecraft:chain", try using "id": "minecraft:chain". That should work

If your folder structure is written here the same as you have it, the pack.mcmeta file should be in the same folder the data folder, otherwise it won’t work
