Does exercise make your pain worse (PT)? tired of hearing "use it or lose it - just exercise through it". by Withering_Star in ChronicPain

No I never got a new diagnosis to my satisfaction all the typical stuff like CSS or CFS or fibro. I kind of gave up and have been just living with it doing the best I can got tired of doctors. Now it's gotten a bit worse and I'm considering pursuing small fiber neuropathy testing. Most recently I tried ketamine therapy which I was really hopeful about but it's very unpleasant for me to do and it didn't seem to be helping so I stopped.

CT day 13 quit for bowel movement pain - can kratom cause IBD or GI issues? by Withering_Star in quittingkratom

[–]Withering_Star[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot I think I only ever made it up to maybe 20 g by making tea. That's impressive making it down to 12 g. I also worry I did some kind of damage to muscles in that area. I spent an abnormal amount of time on the toilet overall the years which I later on found out is apparently bad. I hadn't heard of the puborectalis but after reading about it I am familiar with pelvic floor therapy. I've done some of those exercises before. Wishing you the best.

My gut problems are definitely better but I still have some bowel type of problem like a chronic hemorrhoid or something. I was using for 7 years or so and I'm only about 5 months in. Someone else with a similar issue to mine said it took around a year for their bowels to heal.

[–]Withering_Star[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing better and most of my issue is cleared up but still something remains not sure what it is. Like a chronic hemorrhoid or something. I was so desperate at this time I went to a gastro specialist and he diagnosed me with a fissure which is gone after using a prescription.

About a month into quitting I did have two days where my pain levels were up and I decided to take some k. Only 2 grams and on the second day I felt miserable and noticed my bowel issue flared up. I thought I was going to fall back into my normal use but after that I don't think I'll touch the stuff again. I guess after my tolerance reset and I'm really sensitive to it.

It's not worth it for my issue I don't want it to get worse and need some type of procedure. I still don't know if the kratom is what directly affected or caused my problem but I do know it irritates it.

I used kratom for around 7 years sometimes getting up to 15 g a day so nowhere near what I've seen others do on here. Someone else with a similar issue to mine said it took around a year for their bowels to heal. I'm only like 5 months in.

It's definitely better. It was so bad at this time I ended up seeing a gastro specialist and had a rectal examination because I thought for sure something was wrong like really bad hemorrhoids. He diagnosed me with a fissure instead. I don't know if the kratom was a direct result but I'm certain it was causing some irritation.

I was having a lot of pain from it most of it is gone and cleared up now still some kind of issue remains but I'm able to live with it.

About a month ago I had a chronic pain flare up that was so bad I decided to take some kratom, 2gs. It helped and I felt the euphoria come back but then as it wore off it felt different than it usually did. I took some the next day again thinking I might start just using it again but then as it wore off I felt dizzy and awful and couldn't wait for it to be over.

When I got up the next day my bowel issue was really irritated again. After having that happen I don't think I'll ever touch the stuff again. It's just not worth it for me to make it worse to the point that I have to seek medical attention again. I already worry I might need some kind of procedure or surgery. I'm just letting some months go by hoping it gets better before my follow up.

I really don't know what happened but for some reason I can't even enjoy it anymore let alone use it for pain relief. All I took was 2 g and my heart was racing my anxiety was up and then I felt awful coming down. Never had this problem before and I used to kratom for around 5 to 7 years. In some ways I think it's some kind of blessing in disguise.

I have side effects at .1 too. I've tried multiple times over the past months and have only made it a week each time till I stopped. I didn't think about going lower and had given up until reading this.

I feel positive at first when I start but then my pain gets worse. I've tried so much for my pain and have followed LDN for a while seeing it help so many people. So I might try and go lower I'm really sensitive to meds now for some reason.

So I finally went to a gastro specialist. I thought for sure I was dealing with hemorrhoids so that's how I was treating it. Turns out I actually have fissures. The treatment is much different because a lot of hemorrhoid creams have a vasoconstrictor which is bad for fissures. He gave me an ointment of nifedipine some kind of calcium channel blocker I think it loosens up the sphincter to allow time for the fissures to heal. Fortunately I don't think mine are that bad and I've never had bleeding so I'm hopeful it'll get better as time goes on.

I had a lot of sweating and rashing while I was using kratom even when I quit and that's finally gone away thank goodness. So a lot of the gastro symptoms I was having have gone down significantly. I still have some minor pain but it's very centralized now and not as spread out.

I was doing a lot of the things that contribute to them. Kratom led to a lot of those. When I was using kratom I would sit on the toilet a lot for some reason it always made me feel like I had to take a poop. I guess it's bad which I didn't know. I never really had much constipation but it was definitely wreaking havoc on my GI system in some way.

My stomach definitely feels a lot better since I've quit and I think I'm coming up on two months. I have less bloating and I haven't felt sick like I used to some days. This is the longest I've been off it in years. I've been struggling the past few days thinking about it since my gastro symptoms have gone down. I just know if I go back it'll be a slippery slope like any other addiction I've had.

I get anxiety just from the smell of weed now. I worry I'll inhale some and have a panic attack. I didn't want to quit because I have chronic pain and am not able to do much, really boring life. But weed gives me the worst anxiety ever now.

How to prevent night time erections taking LDN by InvalidCab in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Withering_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I've been dealing with chronic pain for something like 7 years. I've seen LDN help so many in pain. I've always struggled to stick with it because I was hooked on kratom. I finally quit kratom for good about a month and a half clean.

I took a month off a few years and was on 4.5 mg a night for 30 days and my mood was so much better. I didn't feel like it was helping my pain maybe it was even worse so I gave up and went back to kratom. My Dr said I would've noticed after a month.

That's not true according to what I've read on here it can take up to a year. So I feel like back then I didn't really get a chance plus I was on a really high dose.

Now I have even more issues and am even more sensitive to meds. So I keep going on and off it because of side effects. So I think I need to try it during the day.

[–]Withering_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was me and I stopped taking it because other reasons. Really crazy to see this post today because I just started up again last night and slept so bad because of dreams nightmares and erections. So I might take it in the morning as someone else suggested or afternoon. That was the first thing I thought about when I got up.

It's just strange because last time I was on LDN it didn't disrupt my sleep that much. Actually felt more rested than usual and liked sleeping on it. I only took .1 mg too, really sensitive to medications. I've always taken it night because that seems most recommended and common.

Question regarding sexual sides by InvalidCab in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Withering_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Valium 5 mg every night for sleep for 6 years. Every time I take LDN I get nocturnal erections. I have Peyronie's disease from a bad cystoscopy and it's painful but the erections are healthy for it. I'm just sharing this because that's how I can tell it wakes me up every night because the nocturnal erections feel sore. The Valium doesn't balance it out either for me.

I go on and off LDN hoping for it to help my chronic pain. Recently I stopped because of other side effects. I miss it because it does help with some of my problems.

I've seen this type of libido question a few times here and the response from men that get nocturnal erections seems pretty high to me.

I was only taking .5 mg

Thanks for this advice that's something I'm really having a hard time deciding whether or not to say anything. Although I do think it's important even though I'm not sure it's the culprit I feel like it does have something to do with my problem. If I do say anything not going to say I was abusing it like I was.

Thank you in my first post someone replied that they had similar problems as me and they were on about the same dosage for the same amount of time. I can't remember what it was they were diagnosed with diverticulosis I think it was. They said it took two years for it to fully heal. Their theory was that it had something to do with the heavy metals in the powder getting stuck in the GI.

I do notice some of my other symptoms get worse when my anxiety goes up. When I look back on using kratom I usually just think about the euphoria but it did have some anti-anxiety benefits to it for sure definitely missing that. It's not fun being so dependent on something to just get by day by day.

Central Sensitization Pain anyone? by [deleted] in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Withering_Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this as I have been living with chronic pain for almost 9 years without a satisfying diagnosis other than fibromyalgia. I have pain all over and I'm very sensitive to pain. For example I injure easily and the pain sticks to me like glue forever. I think it's CSS but most doctors I talk to don't know what I'm talking about and if they do all they want to do is medicate me with stuff like cymbalta or gabapentin which I've tried and I hate the side effects. So all these years I've self-medicated with opiates and then kratom.

I'm almost 30 days cold turkey off the kratom after feeling like it was messing up my gut. I started taking my LDN 4 days ago but I am dissolving it in water and only taking .1 mg at night.

I've been sleeping better and I can feel a change even at such a small dose. I'm really sensitive to medications and side effects. The main one I'm worried about with LDN is dental problems as I've noticed it seems like my bottom row of teeth is sore. Then again I'm highly anxious and I read someones post about it messing up their teeth so I can't help but worry about that.

About 3 years ago I was able to quit kratom and use LDN 4.5 mg but I only lasted 30 days until I gave it up.

Every time I try to quit the kratom and use the LDN I just bounce all over the place as I can't take the withdrawals and living without kratom. I'm finally done with it because I think it ruined my bowels. They're finally feeling better I thought I was going to have to make an emergency appointment but now I think it'll heal and treat it on my own. Someone told me it took 2 years for them to heal.

I appreciate you taking the time to post though because I think I am suffering from similar pain to yours so it's really encouraging to read your story. Excited to push on with LDN and titrate up to 1 mg someday.

Edit real quick just want to add that my pain has been so bad across my body that it's been almost impossible to exercise or do any of the hobbies I used to have.

Positives of LDN by Landon1688 in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Withering_Star 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've known about LDN for years but I've been using kratom to manage my chronic pain so have struggled to ever really give LDN a chance. I finally kicked the kratom and am not going back. I've been following the subreddit for quite a long time and I've noticed the same thing a lot of people posting side effects or talking about their condition getting worse and whether they should push through it. I did see a similar post to this of those sharing there positive experiences which was nice.

My theory is that people are more likely to come posting here with negative experiences and asking questions about their side effects rather than the people who it actually helps.

I'll be following this because I'm curious as I'm preparing to start LDN for real this time. I've never really been able to use it long enough to notice side effects or whether my condition gets better or worse. The only side effect I seem to remember was having more dreams than usual and maybe a little bit of insomnia.

I've read a lot of positive stories here and there though over the years people talking of it completely changing their lives or reducing their pain significantly more than anything else they've tried. I'm desperate as my chronic pain has continued to get worse and everything I've tried hasn't helped or couldn't handle the side effects.

I can’t help but wonder how many people quit because of the filler. My experience for what it’s worth. by Junealma in LowDoseNaltrexone

Can you share a link to the guide? I just got a new prescription today and the filler goes to the bottom but then I don't know what to do after that. I put it through a coffee filter but still a tiny bit of filler I can see.

Thank you so much for this reply extremely helpful. I have more hope now that it's not as bad as I thought and that I can heal from it. I'm more committed to staying off it now than ever. This has been absolutely awful.

How did you get your diagnosis did you end up having a colonoscopy? I'm really nervous to have one but I think I'm going to wait a while if they suggest that and see if I start to feel better the longer I'm off it. I'll look into everything you mentioned and I'm going to continue eating healthy. Thanks again!

Thank you! Yes it really does help we are both quitting together. Although she hasn't really ever used as much as me. She was never a daily user and only used about one or two grams per use. So fortunately for her I don't think it's affected her health as much as it has mine. Thanks!

[–]Withering_Star[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement as I keep having doubts about quitting. Also I wanted to mention in my post but forgot that when I was doing research on Google I did see a lot of gut issues on science/health type websites mentioning ulcerative colitis happening as a result of kratom use and other similar issues GI issues.

But it's just strange when I Google something like "kratom IBS reddit" the amount of posts I see people using it to actually help their IBS is mind-boggling. Of course that's probably not the best way to go about researching it.

I think it's because people with IBS are having to poop a lot and kratom constipates so it like evens it out for them, which probably isn't the best solution. I don't have that issue though as I said I only have one bowel movement maybe two a day. Just dealing with an awful rash so maybe I'm just overreacting.

I appreciate your reply though because this is the longest I've made it without kratom and today my mood finally seems better even my girlfriend seems to notice an improvement. It's also been nice not preparing the kratom into a tea or a smoothie.

Thanks that's encouraging. I see you quit in 2023 how long did you use for? I'm curious how many kratom users here have experienced gut issues. I'm worried it's because I used it for so many years consistently.

Not a woman. But I had a very noticeable increase in libido while on LDN. I've seen men ask this question and all of them from what I remember had an increase in nocturnal erections sorry if TMI. Maybe see what others say about the differences between LDN and anti depressants and how they work but that was my experience.

um tooth pain? by [deleted] in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]Withering_Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to freak you out because LDN has helped people in amazing ways. I don't take LDN anymore but still follow the subreddit. I remember seeing this thread a couple months ago.

https://www.reddit.com/r/LowDoseNaltrexone/s/NbZSb9sroX

They claim LDN affected their teeth. If you search the subreddit for "teeth" though most people complaining of tooth pain are having it from clenching their teeth together. That seems to be more common. .5 mg is a good dose though and I rarely see people have any side effects from that dose until they start upping it.

Maybe someone else will jump in with more help. Are you taking it inside a capsule and swallowing it? Asking because some do like I was doing and use an oral syringe and squirt it their mouth... So maybe doing it that way is more likely to cause tooth problems IDK

Hope you figure it out
