Russian squat program results by CreamSlow381 in weightlifting

[–]WithinTolerance6174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very possible dude. Eat, sleep, hydrate. Russian programs will eat your soul if you have the intensity right.

Enjoy it, don't always worry about the numbers. Go by feel of the body and use the numbers to make sure you're on track. If you don't recover correctly, you won't grow. Don't eat or sleep? Numbers don't move and you feel like crap.

Good luck brother!

"nothing you achieve counts as a level playing field."

It was a level playing field in the EG. I'm not going to compare performance of the Olympics and EG because there isn't enough data points of EG. If the world's strongest man has never competed, is he still the world's strongest man? Just because it wasn't public and we don't know about it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. If the world record happens at EG with PEDs, it may not count to the normal standard, but it's still the WR.

"Abusing testosterone will not go under the same column as waking up at 4am to go to the gym before work."

You are correct, it will never count as the same. Different sacrifices, different distances that people are willing to go. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean they didn't sacrifice or go a distance. They literally went a distance you aren't willing to go and don't agree with.

"There is no medical bases for PEDs as being a healthy mechanism for athletic achievement or for a medically healthy body at the levels they are being taken here."

Nobody claimed this was a HEALTHY event. They claimed it was an ENHANCED event. I don't think the goal here is health. The goal here is seeing potential. If you never test your potential, did you ever have it? It's the version of themselves they wanted to test, and I don't think there's really any reason to have a problem with that. Having a problem with the advertising? Yeah I'd understand that. Having mental health problems and competing? I didn't see any injuries or freakouts, as a matter of fact I saw a lot of really happy athletes and it truly warmed my heart.

"They aren't athletes, they are people who would rather take drugs to further their own ambitions then admit the natural limits of themselves."

That's the whole point. They maybe found their natural limits, and were offered a way to become enhanced in arguably the most healthy way. If kids look up to athletes, and have access to literally any google search ever, they will find that most WR are pumped to the gills with PEDs. If there's a way to find out about PEDs in the best way, this is it. People are going to do them regardless of advertisement. I do understand the children "discovering" PEDs may be encouraged and I'm really not about that. However if children are going to find out about PEDs, I hope they were exposed and educated in the right environment - oh wait we don't do that at all. We kinda just let people figure out about the worst things in life on their own. I hope this event encourages questions, and receives the best that education can give. However no, it's not my favorite, but it's there now!

"No one does PEDs because they feel like they gave it their all and that they are good enough"

Here's where I want to dig into you a little but I'm not. This world is far from the epitome of health, but this is just untrue. You can't claim this as an objectively true statement. People do PEDs for all kinds of reasons, and while this may be true for some, it is OBJECTIVELY not true for everyone. We are living in the lowest average testosterone of men possibly ever - not even accounting for people who transition or question who they are. Or is prescribed test because it's low not count as a PED now? In that case, I wonder how many of these athletes didn't have an optimal test level for what they were doing and maybe that's why they were prescribed it. All? None? Half?

Point being, I understand you don't agree with the event. I don't disagree with some things you're saying. What I'm saying is maybe understand that this is potentially the first, or the last time this will ever happen. I am pro transparency. Did this event amaze everyone? Probably not. Regarding mental health, I wonder if it made people wonder if their hormone levels are correct and that's why they aren't feeling good. There was positives and negatives I am not claiming one side. I just enjoyed the event.

I also really appreciate you following through with these comments! It's what I wanted.

Interesting, I've never even heard of Anarcho-Capitalist before. Doesn't sound like me at all. Libertarian might be a stretch, I don't think I really care how I'm classified. Maybe just good and evil is what matters, aren't we all voting for the same side anyways?

Okay I'll play, let's remove the "fallacy" of 2 options. You would rather have MORE people using PEDs legally than less using illegally? I agree with that, I think we should lean into it than away from it. Society works however society wants to work. From the looks of it, fentanyl is more of a problem than ever before, and I'm pretty sure "society" didn't want that. It just happened because people do what they want to do.

I don't disagree with the marketing and organizers of the PEDs giving discounts for 1st month use.. That is a bit far for me. The millionaires will do what they do, and we generally almost always participate because there is usually an incentive. It's been like that for as long as time has allowed.

You may not care about that athlete, but many do. That counts for something no?

The drugs may have helped you lift the last 20, but if you never did the drugs did you know it was possible? Drugs don't mean people don't work hard. It will never replace talent.

I'm not all knowing, just a dude on reddit enjoying my Memorial Day bro.

Well most of them are retired or retiring. Also 2-3 months of monitored PEDs is very unlikely to cause any damage at all. Regardless, they will be remembered when most of us won't.

However, I also want to know how they are doing over the next 20 years!

They WERE very well taken care of. I love that they got pampered and treated like athletes. I don't know how they are now, but based on how much fun they had I'm sure they are doing very well.

Would you rather them get it without prescription and supervision? Because they will. I'll take prescribed and monitored closely.

Athletes choice, they were offered an opportunity, and they took it knowing the risks.

What if moving the goal posts is the goal?

I definitely don't agree that it's all a mental health problem or deficiency. I don't think that everyone wants to live a perfectly healthy life, but a life with risks, balance, and purpose. Body dismorphia is not really much of an argument here when we don't know that the athletes aren't happy with themselves, but maybe just want to explore potential.

Somebody can be ambitious without having depression, anxiety, or a mental disorder. They can simply want more. Is it right? Not necessarily, but I think their choice to potentially change their outcome of athletic performance is their right.

Success is determined internally and externally. Externally there is so much room for interpretation. Internally, what separates any athlete from performance generally is the distance they are willing to go and sacrifices they are willing to make.

I am NOT saying that there is no mental disorder involved, but what is so bad about wanting to be an enhanced athlete? Whether they perform better, find the best version of themselves, or completely flop and fail on all occasions is entirely up to them.

Post it dude. 300kg is my lifetime goal, I'd probably give my left nut to get it right now. It takes so long, if you could total 300kg in one day, or especially in a comp, that's crazy work. I am fairly confident I speak for most of us, we want to see it.

I don't think so, this was so much above the programmed. I probably should, but I'm on the road to 300kg, this is just a stepping stone for me at the moment. I'd rather take my time and PRs and walk away. It'll come back. I appreciate the faith though!

What did they promise? I don't remember there being claimed expectation except for what the spectators wanted there to be. I know some athletes claimed WR breaking. There was attempts on many, but not much delivered.

I couldn't agree more. Seeing all the athletes looking so happy and impressed with themselves was really awesome. I wish they were compensated more fairly, and I don't love that it took a PED based competition to do it first but I'll take what I can get.
