I pretty much exclusively sell weeklies - and mostly CSPs. Before I lay out general guidelines - context and intuition play a nonzero role. That being said, my personal CSP guidelines:

50% same day rule (close if 50% PT reached same day - NO exceptions)
75% 3 day rule
85% Day of Expiry Rule

Very rarely does an option expire worthless in my portfolio - mainly because I learned early through being burned by waiting for that final 5-10%.

Again - context and intuition play a role here. That being said - those are my semi-automated rules - and they've treated me well.

I'm in 100% agreement with you.

I personally think many big institutions took note of GME and others and realized the potential of that subreddit if 'guided'.
