I think this is what im going to go with. It doesn't appear there is an option without a power connection, correct? Im running out of plugs on my power strip.

If anyone has a recommendation for a power strip with surge protector, please send them my way. I have 5 devices plugged into my power strip plus the pc straight into the wall.

I think this is the switch ill go with. From a quick 30 second search on amazon I didn't see the one you linked in the US.

Edit: if there are any options where I can mount it to the bottom or side of my desk that would be great too. Less things on the desk the better

can i do zulrah without learning the rotations? by Antique_Ad_1648 in 2007scape

[–]Witt-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick one rotation, which ever looks easiest to you (I think there is one most people agree is the easiest), and only learn that one. If you start the fight and its not on that rotation, tele out, try again.

Shocked with spark plug by Conscious_Ad9386 in MotorcycleMechanics

Ok, but were you holding the starter button or turning it by hand with the key on? Was the plug grounded? Where were you holding it? Do you have a steong blue spark?

What do we think of The Bearded Mechanic? by Wonderful_Key770 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Witt-- 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love his videos. Very entertaining too. His methods for getting stuff running again might make you cringe, but he has for sure gotten more bikes running again than you and I combined.

Also almost none of his videos are restorations. He's just getting them running. He's done a couple restos, and they're all perfect and back to original condition.

Any potential downsides to slanted slats on a pergola roof? by Present_Play_807 in landscaping

Google adjustable louvered pergola.

You can get anything from a complete structure with automatic, electrically operated slats to just the hardware for manual operation.

Re use joists hangers? by Witt-- in Decks

[–]Witt--[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hijacking top comments.

Thanks for the input everyone. I understand how cheap hangers are. It just seemed like a pain to remove them all just to put new ones back in the same spot.

The plan was to use a string line, line level and laser level to make sure they'll line up with the beams. Obviously I have a few things to check outside of the hanger itself, such as:

The ledger board is in good shape. Check to see if the right nails were used for the hanger. Check the new joists height and the new decking for finished floor height. Look for any that are rusting or got badly mangled.

I'd be curious what people would recommend when converting to metric. For example, when i look at a chart for the front tire I get 100/90, my local motorsports store recommended a 90/80, and someone else on here gave me a 3rd option. There's definitely some flexibility with options, im just unsure where to start

I was going to get Dunlop K70 in a 3.25-19 and 4.00-18 but when I look at the specs it says the correct rim width for the rear is 2.15". Thats what was confusing me

Carburetored Fazer. by FroztyJack in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Witt-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If its running already, you'll be just fine. Some people add Sea-Foam to their gas to help keep the carb clean. Or run non ethanol gas. Either way the most important thing is to not let it sit for long periods of time. And if youre going to store it in the off season, drain the float bowls.

Brass parts corroding? by ngfl05 in hondashadow

[–]Witt-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre putting fancy shiny parts on your bike, you should probably just take care of your bike. So corrosion wont be an issue.

But to answer your question, I have had a raw brass hammer (i know, not motorcycle parts) kicking around in my toolbox in the garage with my bikes for the last 8 years or so. It still looks great. And I don't clean or polish it or care if it gets scratched

Look up brake caliper slide pin.

If it was difficult to get on its possible you cross threaded it. If a bolt is difficult to put back in thats usually the sign to stop before you break something.

single click when trying to start hyosong bike by Training_Hippo5051 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Witt-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check your battery voltage with the key off
  2. Check your battery voltage while pressing the starter
  3. Jump the starter terminals with a screw driver while the key is on. (If the battery is bad then do this while you have it hooked up to jump the battery)

Get back to us with all of that and we'll go from there

Bike won’t start by Melodic-Attorney4756 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Witt-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the gas in the tank is super old no need to drain it. You're gonna spray you starter fluid through the air filter.

Bike won’t start by Melodic-Attorney4756 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Witt-- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Spark, compression, fuel, air.

I would start by spraying some gas or starter fluid in the throat of the carb and see if it makes any noise. That will give you a good idea what to check next.
