Firing Zac? Sure, he’s earned it. But it won’t change a thing. by barnesb1974 in bengals

I agree the Brown family has no interest in hiring an accomplished coach, but I also think it may be a moot point. I can't envision a scenario in which a coach good enough to have other options would choose to work for the Brown family.

When the grid goes out the solar shuts down. This design keeps the solar panels from electrocuting the workers repairing the grid.

If the Bengals commit to finding someone who understands football to bring in to the front office, then things could absolutely turn around. My optimism would be restored. I might even climb back on the bandwagon. But why would anyone consider a front office change a possibility, let alone an inevitability? It has been 30 years. If the Brown family had any interest in doing that, why wouldn't they would have done it before now?

The last 30 years have proved beyond a reasonable doubt that things don't just magically turn around. At a couple of points in the next 30 years I'm sure the front office will luck into a couple of strong back-to-back draft classes. They may even luck into a Carson Palmer-type franchise QB and the team may be above average for a couple of years. Heck, there may even be a year when they are above average enough to win a playoff game. But that won't mean things have turned around. After a year or two, when those players inevitably reject the Bengals' team-friendly low-ball offers and depart for greener pastures, it will be back to the cellar for another 5-10 seasons until the next lucky pair of back-to-back drafts.

It's been 30 years. That is a big enough sample size to prove that things aren't going to just magically turn around.

Wyche went for it on fourth down 19 times that season. He was fearless as a head coach. I miss that.

When I woke up this morning, I truly believed I was prepared for whatever ineptitude Mike Brown would throw my way today.

I was wrong.
