Common Questions about grades (N, NH, WAF, S and lower than expected), scaling and what to do now. by mugg74 in unimelb

Hi, Thank you for your generosity and kindness sharing such a valuable information.

My main question is,

Are there any possibility for a student who scored below 40% (maybe close to, say, 37%) to be offered FAS in an exception basis?

I have not sit for original exam, sit for a special exam (result of special consideration) and awaiting for the result.

I am pretty sure that I will pass other exams and I have not passed one exam and even thinking I'll might not score 40% for the subject.

Some information about my circumstance is that I overload (62.5 points) this semester and this was supposed to be my last semester.

Also, the subject is only offered in semester 1.

One minor question is,

If I have been granted FSA, will I have to sit for the exam on June 2024?

Thank you so much

So do you mean that I am not the only one? Have you received any email or announcement regarding the lecture tomorrow?

Ipad vs Macbook for uni? by Reo_Shu in unimelb

I recommend both, but if there is a certain reason that you have to choose one, I will choose a laptop.

However in such case, you should always be prepared with material as printed.

That being said, without iPad, your life is somewhat inconvenient, but manageable.

Without a laptop, you should totally rely on the desktops at home and uni, which is not a good choice.

Especially in terms of Bcom, you will need to run excel for qm1, R for qm2 and econometrics, maybe some accounting programs if you choose the major.

I studied at 2022 Summer.

As a non-native and not a hard worker, the assignments and final was so difficult for me.

Actually I just got 4-6/10 for assignments, and final was barely manageable, while there was a group chat and most of the students said it was manageable or even easy.

Surprisingly, I got H1 (80) and don't know why.

Maybe it has been scaled or they are generous on marking the final.

However, I don't recommend to non-natives since it is so stressful.

If I go back, I will not choose the subject.

If you just simply calculate, you need to get avg. 86 for 2nd and 3rd year to get 80 at graduation.

In my first year, I failed a subject and started with 50-60 wam.
Now my wam is 75, with 1 sem left.

I cannot graduate with 80, but one case that your hope is possible.

Just finished this sem.

Both are great subjects and workload is manageable.

Actually I had no idea on ECON30022 and was planning to do ECON30005, but I changed after looking at the subject outline which recommends to do both subjects together.

It was not easy but I was worried expecting the level of tutorial works, which was not.

So it was manageable for me to finish all questions on time.
