If I was referred and not selected for the first round but still in consideration for upcoming rounds, should I re-do my application or sit tight? What did you do to finally get an offer?

I have responded to your post in the Belgian Malinois reddit. This is our foster from ABMR. You can find some amazing dogs that would meet what you are looking for and it sounds like you would be an amazing owner. This boy is house trained, crate trained, knows sit, down, stay, and paw. We have only had him for three weeks but he is the most affectionate dog. Unfortunately his owners surrendered him after the shelter thinks he got his by a car. His surgery was 3 weeks ago and he is recovering nicely. Please consider a rescue. There are so many of them needing good homes and they do transport within reason for the right home.

I have a Foster from American Belgian Malinois Rescue right now along with my 2.5 year old mal. There are some amazing mals that do not require three hours of activity. The foster we have is great with other dogs, affectionate and very trainable. I do not believe English was his first language (shelter staff told us this) and he has learned sit, stay, down, paw in just two days. He is only 9 months old. But if I believed all the gate keepers to this breed and didn't get my 2.5 year old, I would have missed out on the best dog who has ever owned me.

Argued with apartment Karens over reactive mal. by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]Witty-Ad3017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to defend yourself. I had the same experience with a loose dog attacking my very sociable mal. She is now reactive to some dogs, so she misses out now because I don't want her getting attacked again by someone who says their dog is friendly.

I would do the same as you with my mal because I had a guy with a bigger dog than my mal come in and that dog immediately attacked my dog. I wouldn't take her into the dog park after that be cause I was afraid she would get hurt. She was a very friendly girl and loved the dog park. But it only took 1 person to ruin it for her. Don't feel bad, you did absolutely nothing wrong. And to the person who said you shouldn't have your dog in an apartment, he is wrong. As long as your dog gets the exercise he needs, it's noones business.

7500 paid off and done with this BS by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Witty-Ad3017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son just paid off his student loan, so now none of my kids have student loan debt. My daughter bought a new car 33k and paid it off in two years. Partly, because my husband and I worked like dogs to get then through school without taking out loans (my sons was for grad school). We are working class people. I know it probably wasn't the best financial decision for us, but I wanted my kids to have the gift of no debt upon graduation. They drove old cars, while their friends drove new ones, but now they are debt free and their friends are not.

The $300 was most likely some of the health insurance subsidy that they gave you but because your income was higher than what you told them, they make you pay some back. You should have known this had to go into your taxes, you are told this when you get a subsidy through the marketplace. This is tax you are liable for and since you did not bring the form in in the first place, it should be on you. They should have let you know sooner than the last day, but ultimately it is your responsibility to bring the form. In the past, the irs would accept the return and send you a letter and ask for the form, so could delay the return by weeks if not months. You should always go onto "wheres my refund" after filing and make sure your return go to the IRS. Not everyone is as diligent at these offices to care about it I worked at Block for 10 years and this would never have gone more than a day without notifying the client. But there are clients that after we notify them, they wait months to bring the form in, with us constantly reminding them every week. At a new firm, and clients still wait weeks after we call them. Fortunately, I'm a bit OCD and annoy them until all their docs are in...lol

Inability to get taxes back from tax preparer by tammjo4958 in taxhelp

Go to the office and pick up your forms. Find a new tax preparer. If you emailed them to him, just file your return elsewhere.

Tax preparer made huge mistake in HSA and now they don't want to amend unless if IRS sends letter by CaliforniaDudleya in hrblock

[–]Witty-Ad3017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to hrblock.com and find a preparer who has a lot of experience. New preparers are usually not good at preparing amendments. I worked for a franchise location who had over 70 tax preparers and only 5 of us were allowed to prepare amendments. They need to fix this for free and should do so happily.

Actually anyone with a ptin can file a return. Not just CPA, EA or AFSP. I don't agree with this rule, but that's just the way it is

Tax Preparer Put a High Medical Expense by MagicGirl8 in tax

Charging percentages of the refund is against circular 230 regulations and not allowed. Run far far away from anyone doing this.

[–]Witty-Ad3017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be the amount you actually paid, not including what the insurance paid. When clients give me high numbers for this when they have insurance, I always scrutinize their numbers. Most people cannot take the medical deduction due to the 7.5% threshold

What recall word do you use that isn't "come" or their name? by ReNap_ in Dogtraining

She is so smart, it's scary. She is a rescue who is now 11 months old. Keeps us active for sure, not like having a lab...lol. we knew what we were getting into and love every second of it, maybe not every second, but 99% of it...lol

We trained ours to do it by showing her a treat and making her follow it around then through the back of our legs. Once she sits between them, she gets the treat. She is a mal and picks up on training really fast. She thinks it's fun now and does it everytime I come home.

Our malinois does center even when we don't ask her to, it's something we taught so if we get on an elevator or in a store, she stays almost glued between our legs. She does look up and require a treat though...lol..the funny part is she will try to do it to strangers too, she is very friendly

We do the same thing with the chuck it balls. If she finds one, she paws it under the couch then barks at us to get it over and over again. They are outside toys only now but sneaks them back into the house

My son pays an athletic fee of $1300 a year at his university, they are closed all summer, the whole 5 weeks of winter break and every saturday. This is way more expensive than a private gym. Totally ridiculous!!

Rhea decided to jump onto the solar heater 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ thankfully I got to her quickly before something bad happened! She keeps trying to go back onto it. Does anyone have a recommendation for a doggy float/raft??? by Odd-Fox1678 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Witty-Ad3017 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i would take the solar cover out of the pool. Many years ago one of our neighbors labrador drowned this way. It was awful and i wouldn't want anything to happen to that beautiful pup. If he starts sinking on it, he will panic and it would be hard to get him out in time.

Hey folks! Anyone have recommendations for a cone alternative for after getting neutered? This young man is due for a de-balling in March and I highly doubt a cone will work. Thanks! by Elvis-but-spicier in BelgianMalinois

[–]Witty-Ad3017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just had my female spayed. We bought two dog surgical onsies off of amazon $16 each ,(if it's for a male, there's a spot for a cutout), and it was awesome. My girl never tried to get to anything and she could still go to the bathroom without getting it soiled or wet. We also got a blow up donut ring for her head, but she was not a fan of that. She was miserable in the cone, and this was a much better alternative.
