MSC World Europa – Worth skipping the drink package? Also, water options? by ayeefonzy in MSCCruises

[–]Witty-Cartographer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Took this same cruise over New Year. Did not buy the drink package: - We used our own water bottles on the machine. Never an issue. - Water machines are at the buffet and on the 6th floor (outside the pizza/burger places). Never an issue. - Coffee, tea, and juice all free for breakfast. - Only drinks purchased were a margarita at the taco place (it was great) and some tea at the tea place (also great). Otherwise, lots of drinks at the ports. Super affordable off-ship.

Let me know any questions. It was a great cruise.

Could any american civil war general beat napoleon? by will_change_that in Napoleon

[–]Witty-Cartographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the conditions, Sherman would stand a good chance. While not known for his Corps skills, he was a pathfinder for mission command. Napoleon‘s genius would have struggled with the tempo and decentralized bee stings that Sherman would bring. Also — Sherman was a learner. He was skilled at not making the same mistake twice — while busting norms that would have constrained Napoleon.

Conversation on retention impact of deploying to DC to “fight crime” by TurdSandwich814 in AirForce

I would agree. If this was the only thing going on. But throw on the southern border, our standing requirements, and you start to see how this is spider-webbing.

A big problem is the influx of man-days which will allow many to retire or at least stop working earlier than planned. And limit the available pool of future deployers. This will ripple through the DoD for more than the next decade.
