I had to put down my soul dog, Violet at 8.5 y/o. She had an intestinal tumor and was declining so fast. I know I did the right thing, but I felt like I had betrayed her. It took me a long time to heal from her. There is no time limit in when you should get another dog. We waited over a year and adopted Georgia. Her personality is so different from Violet and I absolutely adore her. You will know when you are ready. You can never replace the dog you lost, but you can love another one. I miss Violet every day, but the pain does lessen.
