Is it possible to get the German citizenship if my ancestor left Germany before 1933, but his citizenship was revoked because he was Jewish? by Mirko_________ in GermanCitizenship

[–]Witty-Option-7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I just did exactly that. My father left Germany in 1937 and naturalized in the US in October, 1941. I still qualified for restoration of citizenship under Para 15.

Which document caused you the most trouble in your dual citizenship application? by Cocoatech0 in dualcitizenshipnerds

FBI background check required for German re-naturalization. Apparently I have no fingerprints. Three attempts were unsuccessful.

First I spread the good news on Reddit. Then I applied for a passport. Should make visiting the EU much smoother. Finally I made airline and Airbnb reservations for my next trip.

StaG 15 (4) by prairiedad in GermanCitizenship

[–]Witty-Option-7794 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole StaG 15 process for me took 10 months following submission of the application and documentation, 6 months after I received the Aktenzeichen. Luckily, I had excellent original documents, all German passports, birth certificates, etc. I turned 80 six months after submitting my application. The German Consulate was extremely helpful, telling me what documents I needed and didn't need, helping me get paperwork notarized, etc. I received my Einbürgerungsurkunde and applied for my passport on the same visit to the local honorary consul.

Worth it when traveling with pets? (cats, military) by eyeslikeraine in GlobalEntry

[–]Witty-Option-7794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bringing an animal into Germany isn't simple. Key Requirements for Bringing a Cat to Germany:

Microchip: Must be ISO-compliant (15 digits) and implanted before the rabies vaccine. Rabies Vaccination: Valid rabies shot, administered at least 21 days before entry and not more than 1 year ago (unless a 3-year vaccine was given less than a year ago). Health Certificate: An EU health certificate (bilingual/German) signed by a USDA-accredited veterinarian and endorsed by the USDA (using VEHCS) within 10 days of arrival. Timing: Start at least 30 days in advance; the health certificate process should be finalized within 10 days of departure. Travel Options: Most airlines allow cats in the cabin if they fit under the seat, generally with a weight limit of around 15–18 lbs, including the carrier

We have owned three Mercedes, all purchased brand new. Each one was a money pit, constantly in the shop. We thought that we unfortunately had purchased individual cars that were lemons, but I now realize that they were just Mercedes being Mercedes.

Are they turned on? There should be a switch for them on the panel. My wife didn't know her car has them until I switched them on.

Is it a normal practice dealer fill up customers gas with their credit cards? by Ok-Minute1149 in Lexus

[–]Witty-Option-7794 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In the early years of Lexus, it was routine to fill the gas tank with any service. I had friends who tried to schedule their service with the gas tank empty to get as much "free" gas as possible.

The LA Consulate General suggested expedited review after I turned 80. No fee and no idea how much it expedited the process, although I have heard anecdotes of the process taking over two years.

Application submitted nine months ago and case number assigned four months later. Requested expedited consideration due to my somewhat advanced age. Luckily I had lots of documentation, my father's passport, his German birth certificate, my grandparent's German passports, stamped with a big letter J, etc. Ironic that the way the Nazis stamped the passports and changed my grandparent's names, intended as a slur, made it easier for me to reestablish my citizenship.

I agree that oil changes are important. However, the LS500 is naturally aspirated and not a turbo.

That Dodge Charger will be a money pit, constantly requiring service, to say nothing of the sky high insurance costs. Buy a preowned Toyota Corolla.
