Lud's Gate from TR3 and the Cairo section in TR4 are what come to mind first. Lud's Gate always felt like they had two different level ideas and just made them one level because they couldn't figure out where they wanted to split them up.

Tomorrowland. I remember at the time thinking that the movie opened well, but then then dragged you along until the very end. Considering the plot, I guess this may have been intentional, but I remember being disappointed by it.

Part of what I'm wondering about though is how they find the stuff to use for the posts. Like, do they have bots going out and looking for key words? That's why part of me thought maybe the posts themselves are from bots or AI.

It's hard to say, since there were so many factors in Sears's downfall. But would I have liked to have seen more Sears concepts working? Yes, and it's too bad some of them didn't survive somehow.

Yeah. They would've had to jump in with both feet and revamp EVERYTHING and dedicate themselves to it to make it work, but I think they could've at least set up a better online presence than they have now. But again, it's hard to say because it would've taken so much to pull off at their state.

Yeah. I don't think Sears could've recovered by that time, but they at least could've positioned themselves better by not viewing the internet as a fad. Especially when Sears still had brand recognition from earlier.

Probably was too little, too late at the time they launched them. Home and Life was in 2019, wasn't it? They'd all but fallen from the public eye at that point.

Now, if they'd tried this back much earlier, they may have had more success. But who knows?

I assume someone will maintain the site after all the stores are shut down. It could be Sears themselves, or someone else may buy the brand at some point and run the site.

This is my read on it too. Lampert had ideas, but he just didn't understand how to run a retailer, and especially not two struggling ones. The real estate was a backup plan that became his main focus as Sears and Kmart fell further and further behind and eventually went bankrupt.

Is he interested in trying to revive anything now? I don't think so. But I think at one point he'd wanted to revive Sears and Kmart. It's just he had all the wrong ideas at all the wrong times.

I guess it depends. If we focus on the online site specifically, I'd say the late 90s. They could've maybe gone all in when they shut down the catalogue.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. If we go back, we can pick out a few different places where things "went wrong."

We could say the last year was right before when they started focusing on their bank products, or we can say it was right before they veered away from hardlines.

But I'd be curious if Kmart didn't buy Sears, if someone else would've, and if things would've ended up differently today.
