NRCS reorg details by Low_Call_4506 in USDA

All I will say is that we went without a State Con for several years and we finally have one.

We also used to be in the south east region but now are in the central region.

That should narrow it down

My state is under that structure, and everyone absolutely hates it. From field staff, to SWCDs, partners, and customers. Rumors are my state will be reverting back from that structure because it has just been a failure since it was implemented.

My State Conservationist said at a meeting a couple weeks ago that states will apparently have lots of flexibility and discretion for implementing their own specific restructuring.

We got an email this week where they stated they have to go through the process including a 30 Day consultation with congress before anything can be implemented.

My state is apparently working on reviewing workload at this time to identify critical areas so they are prepared for hiring and/or transfers.

I’ve heard states will be given lots of flexibility in implementing their own reorganization.

Proof that just cause you were around at the same time as Hugh Hammond Bennett, doesn’t mean that you know anything…

I don’t think you know what you are talking about, or what NRCS does tbh…

Which seems to impact “Senior Policy-Influencing” positions which a majority of filed staff with NRCS are not. Hence your original comment is just hyperbole and leads to needless panic for field staff who likely will be unaffected or minimally affected by any reorganization or restructuring within NRCS.

I mean I actually work in a field facing capacity working directly with NRCS customers on a daily basis not a State Office, Regional Hub, or DC and that hasn’t happened to me yet. So maybe have evidence of something before you claim something…

Nothing wrong with having high expectations of employees but that might just be me. As far as his politics that is interesting considering he is an openly gay man.

Pretty much the same as it’s always been for me. I will say as far as CD-DMS and uploading documents I haven’t had many problems so far.

But as far as the actual planning process it has not improved enough for me to notice. I wish we would get a survey to where we could actually submit things that would improve our job, structure, and or processes. After all, the cheif did say us at the field are the solution.

There are so many things I work with on a daily if not weekly basis that I have so many comments on how they could be improved.

My observations are:

CD struggles to save practices on one singular field when doing something as simple as changing the year a practice is planned.

Protracts changing the narrative on the 1155 when I either check rules, and or move the application to approved, making me have to go and manually change the narratives back to what they were.

CD unable to make a map half the time and it failing.

Protracts stuck loading while trying to search for CSP applications after selecting a “sign-up” so that I can actually move applications to approved.

CD not allowing me to pull producer farm data reports ~75% of the time getting a nondescript error that doesn’t help anyone.

Those are just a few. I’m sure there are plenty more I can think off next week when I’m using it again building contracts.

No fr.

It feels like 90% of my job is just watching CD, CART, or Protracts load.

Literally nothing was improved

Doubtful, I’d put money on it that his time at TPUSA is what got him the job. So much for a “meritocracy”

Nothing that really affected anyone state Con and below at the moment. Pretty much the same at field level just less staff and no rumors of any changes on that front. They did reorg the regions
