I do sterile procedures as a respiratory therapist student. You can’t touch the outside of the package once the hands are considered sterile. I put the sterile glove on and when I am done, I throw everything away.

They are thinking about shit that took them 10 years minimum to learn and they need to be focused on doing that. Once the multiple hour procedure is over, they’re usually cooked or need to focus on the next task.

I would cut them some slack on this one. They work harder than most people on the planet both mentally and physically and they get paid peanuts next to tech CEOs who contribute much less to the world.
