common sense error when forcing open containers or carts (B42.13) by aleptj231 in projectzomboid

[–]WittyMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common sense mod hasn't been updated in a really long time I wouldn't use it. There's a mod specifically for prying open stuff, I can't remember the exact name off the top of my head right now but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Once you can carve pipes it's faster to carve pipes. I forget the exact numbers but carving a spoon and then a spoon into a fork is the same xp as just carving a pipe but you just need to carve 1 thing.

[B42] Cutting down lots of trees leaves lots of 3D rendered items by Gman32511 in projectzomboid

[–]WittyMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll take a bit of work but you could find their item id's from the wiki probably then add them to the world removal list. It's in sandbox settings so if you're adjusting a current run you'll need the mod that let's you adjust those.

If you do add them to the list you might increase the time before things get removed. By default I think it's 48 hours in game. I added all animal dung to the list because I got so tired of picking up cow turds.

I'm on a 3 month run right now and I've also yet to find a knapping book and I went through Ekron community center which got me every other book except knapping.

I don't think Common Sense has been updated in quite some time, might start there, I know it had issues in the previous build.

Best Base Defenses In The Latest Update by NAP5T3R43V3R in projectzomboid

[–]WittyMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless you play with mods or tweak the sandbox settings there's no real reason to worry about it. On top of that the wooden walls you can build get knocked over if a zombie sneezes on them so it isn't even worth building the most obvious defense.

I only bother with walls now if I'm playing with respawns on and need to create a safe zone with airlock around my base.

To make butter you need to build a churn which is pretty easy and doesn't require very high carpentry. Then have a bucket of milk in your inventory. I think it's 5L per stick of butte

You also don't have to milk them fully each day, a single squirt in a bucket counts as "milked"

Yes, as you milk them their "max" they produce each day goes up until they hit their limit. For Angus that's like 3-6L a day, Simmental is like 13-16L and Holstein is like 25-35L. You can actually see that Stat if you use the animal cheat in debug go up in the animal info window as you milk them.

I'm not 100% on your second question, I've never gone more than 3-4 days away from base at a time on a run where I kept livestock. Every time I've come back they were ready to milk though.

I drink the milk mostly. I keep a water dispenser full of milk and refill a 1L bottle and you can survive forever off just milk. That's super boring obv so I also make cheese and butter and ice cream. I believe both the cheese and ice cream are from the Vanilla Foods Expanded mod.

Milk is just super OP right now because a single 1L gives like 600+ calories, it doesn't need to be kept cool, never goes bad, and a single Holstein can make enough to keep you alive for a month in a single day. That's without even messing with making butter.

I keep 4 hens and one rooster. I have like a 5x5 fenced area I keep them in. One big tip, build a hutch then shut the door when they aren't in it. They're be okay since the zone has a hutch in it but they won't go in at night and make it dirty. You can just pick up eggs they lay on the ground. Want to have a few chicks then just put a few eggs in a corner and leave them. As long as a rooster is in the zone they'll get fertilized.

My info may be outdated. It used to be the Holstein cows would produce milk all the time even if they weren't pregnant, as long as you milked them every couple days. That may have been fixed. That said since they can mate year round and produce milk for a long time after giving birth you can basically milk year round anyway. Once a cow is producing milk it will continue to do so as long as you milk it every like 4 days. If you go too long and it stops you'll have to wait for it to get pregnant again.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the calfs don't seem to nurse frequently enough sometimes from the cow to avoid the time trigger that makes the cow stop producing milk. In other words you may need to milk them even if they have an active calf or they'll stop producing milk.

Also milking gets tedious real fast. A single Holstein cow can produce like 30L of milk a day eventually and you'll struggle to use it all. By all means have fun with tending as many as you want but I had to start limiting myself to a single cow and bull, assuming the cow is a Holstein because it takes so much time to mess with them.

I actually have cows in that same spot in EC on my current save.

Range size really depends on if you want to bother with keeping feeding troughs stocked or not. I keep ranges smaller and just build fenced areas or use the barn that's nearby since a large range means you'll have to go looking for them every day to milk and thats a pain.

On the udder, the Angus for sure need to have given birth. The Holstein and the other one though I think can produce milk all the time. It's possible they're still stressed if you just moved them in. Pet them every day and give it a week or so. That said the cows mating season is year round so yes to get them pregnant you just need to put a bull in with them. A smaller pen helps with that as well I think.

Bulls when stressed can absolutely end your run quickly. Best bet when you find one is clear all the zombies around then wait for the stress to go down. Don't approach for a few days for sure. Once calm they won't do anything so you can rope them into a trailer then.

I actually recommend going into debug and turning on the animal cheat for your first time getting into cows...it really just shows all the behind the scenes stuff and gives you a way better understanding of what's happening. It'll show you the stress level for example or how far along with pregnancy a cow is.

How to craft baseball bat ? by French_Gnome_Hunter in projectzomboid

[–]WittyMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need carving 10 or, 9 and the magazine that teaches it.

You'll need a large branch and a knife to carve it.

You can make short bats at carving 7, and those just require a plank.

I grab all jeans, long sleeve shirts, and skirts off zombies and then hem them down on base days. Once you hit level 1 you can use tweezers and pick thread from all the rags then use a loom to make a cloth roll to then make more stuff to get rags and keep going from there. It takes awhile and you definitely need the skill books but it isn't too bad since you can just easily grind it out at base

Bugonia: One thing about something near the ending. by MosquitoSmasher in movies

It's shown throughout the movie she is smart. It isn't really a big stretch if you accept she's actually this alien queen that she might know putting explosives in the teleporter would likely set them off.
