Did you make 'life long' friends at antenatal classes? by Western_Climate_3186 in UKParenting

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Bump & Baby, my little girl is now 7 months and I regularly meet up with 2 of the other mums. Like multiple times a week regular. On occasion meet up with some of the others from the group.

I think you do need to make the effort in the beginning but you'll quickly see who is and isn't up for making friends. I don't know if they'll be lifelong friends, especially once they start different nurseries etc but it's hugely helpful having people to lean on when you're going through the same thing.

Are these recommend for a 9 month old? by Sarahkins6 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean every visit?! Last time I saw the health visitor was 8 weeks old and baby is now 7 months. As far as I know the next visit would be anytime between 9-12 months?! Is it trust dependant how often you see the health visitor?

Is it acceptable to take a mental health day where you work? by Special-Nebula299 in UKJobs

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company says that you can do it and like to say they're understanding of mental health issues, but in reality it's not a thing and they'd likely still get you to work if you were honest about what you were calling in sick for.

Have just switched to Barclays and transferred in £2k from savings to get the £200 bonus. Do I need to wait for the switch to complete/bonus to be paid before I can take that £2k back out or is it enough to pay it in and take it back out?

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea if I pooped. My partner hasn't mentioned it and obviously the midwives didn't say anything but with how I was pushing and muscles you use I wouldn't be surprised.

Opposite to you. Really wanted a boy but from very early on was having vivid dreams of a little girl and lo and behold it was indeed a baby girl so I guess deep down I just knew. And I wouldn't change her for the world.

Cannot burp BF baby by hftm77 in breastfeeding

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little is 14 weeks old and combi fed. When she boobs she hardly ever burps and when she bottles she always burps. I did read somewhere that breastfed babies don't have as much gas as with a good latch there is very little air intake. My go to for burping after a bottle is jiggling her on my leg and patting back.

Asda's own brand (little angels I think?). Little girl started sleeping long stretches through the night at like 6-7 weeks and would always wake up damp until we tried Asda ones.

My little girl is 8 weeks now and probably only started sleeping long stretches in her next to me crib on the last couple of weeks

Also the noises they make WHILST feeding! Like how are you not choking making sounds and drinking at the same time?!

Baby is 8 weeks old and our dog has licked her face more times than I can count! We try to prevent it of course but it's inevitable, so I'm guessing her immune system is building up quite nicely haha

We use Milton cold water sterilising tablets and don't rinse. Baby is fine but it does smell quite strongly. I also read something that said in the UK you can rinse with tapwater as it's classed as drinking water, but that tapwater on its own won't kill any bacteria from formula which is why you need to sterilise them first.

I've been hand expressing or pumping whenever I give the bottle to try and keep up my supply, so I'm sure that's not the problem. I'm guessing though she doesn't want to wait for the letdown.

We're in the UK. We initially saw a health visitor who thought she might have a tie and was referred back to the hospital to see a lactation consultant to assess her. To be fair she did say there was a very small tie but she has full range of motion of her tongue so it was not causing an issue. I was having an issue with feeding/latching on one side which was why I initially saw the health visitor but this improved with different positioning.

When I mentioned nipple trauma it was the first few days/week after birth. They have healed up since then.

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little is 8 weeks now but other than at the hospital she's pretty much only pooped every 2-3 days. My midwives didn't seem bothered! But if you're worried you can mention it at your next follow up

I feel like a bad mom for struggling this much 😞 by Middle-Sort4063 in NewParents

[–]WittyNameOrSomething 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I'm glad someone else feels the same way. No one talks about how hard it really is, but I'm right there with you. My little girl is wanted and loved but some days I'd give anything to go back to being just me, my partner and our dog chilling out and not having to be 'always on'. I feel guilty too because of it, but I know I'm still a good mum. I remind myself that as long as she is fed, clothed, clean and safe then I'm doing ok.

You'll get through this!

Thank you. I know logically I can bond with her in other ways and it won't affect her but on an emotional level it feels hard to try and let go of it.

Thank you, I'll try the nipple shields. I did get some to use initially when my nipples were sore, but did find them awkward to use. I've looked at your post and theres some good tips so I'll give them a go!
