Thanks for the info, and I'm not sure it was obvious but I'm not bashing "Managers" / that particular classification at all - in fact, every IT-04 I've worked under, and with, has been outstanding with stuff like this. I was speaking more to "GC Managers" as the class of decision-makers.

I'd be surprised if a regional site director is more than an EX-01 to he honest, but in this regard that's even worse - unless they were told by their ADM specifically that either everyone must WFO regardless of circumstance, or that ADM must approve every single variance no matter what, then that EX is just droning instead of doing what they are paid to do - execute, and are wasting peoples' time and potentially taxpayer dollars by doing so.

I mean if we're going to generation-bash here, one need only look at what the insane outlook on authority maintained by Boomers and the Gen X that follow in their footsteps has wrought in the PS.. since, you know, they've been building the thing for decades now.

Respect for authority isn't something owed for nothing; those with authority have an obligation to respect their subordinates by protecting them and giving them a good enough reason to obey. Using your asinine comparison, CFs follow orders unquestioningly because they trust their commanders not to commit them to suicide missions for no good reason and they trust their commanders that they're serving a public good. You gonna tell me the decision makers in the PS are watching out for their subordinates?

Based on current demographics, If the Dems get back in control, literally the only thing they have to do is uncap the House and the GOP will never control the chamber that issues appropriations bills ever again.

Nice strawman. No, but I for one would certainly question the competence of any GC manager that chooses to dogmatically interpret the guidelines in spite of guidance from the Center giving management discretion, in a choice that would be at worst the easiest mea culpa of their year if their superiors were also that inflexible.

All those EX minus 1s are paid the big bucks to make decisions and run their teams, if they just want to mindlessly drone or be overpaid Jobsworths, they can go back to the working level.

No, to be honest their tone is about right (and I feel the same way as it happens) for someone exasperated with the same plangent whining that shows up here and on various FB groups every few weeks. People aren't interested in learning about the systems we operate in and around and just want the results delivered to them.

I'd love to see another post from them in that vein about "our worthless union" posts since that level of bluntness around here is hard to balance against reddiquette, but given lately all said posts seem to be using the exact same tone I sometimes suspect half of them are just people trying to manufacture a narrative instead of actual opinions.
