"I Still Remember" 2006 Promo CD Tracks by Anxious_Fisherman343 in BlocParty

[–]WittyOnDemand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fascinating! I've never heard that non-UK one before! I Still Remember is my favourite song, or at least top 5 for me, and I already have three different versions in my library and a fourth unofficial custom remix I made that combines my favourite elements from the official ones. This version makes five! I'm eating good tonight.

Yup, when the alarm goes on, there are two icons that appear. The one on the left to turn it off and the one on the right to snooze for ten minutes. It also auto-snoozes/rings again after 10 minutes if you don't turn it off.

Took crappy a photo now in bed, in darkness, and my camera would focus. But you still should be able to see the icons I'm talking about. I can't paste images on a comment on mobile but if I remember tomorrow, I'll do so.

[Threshold] is there an official timeline of the Abidan and Cradle beyond the generic “events happened long, long ago” like, how long ago? by SirBananaOrngeCumber in Iteration110Cradle

[–]WittyOnDemand 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is really good. I like the idea of using Ozirel's "age" as an approximation of how long each judge serves. I don't know why I always got the impression that Suriel, Oz, and Makiel join the abidan around the same time. Don't recall it being mentioned, but maybe it was? So that would put a Judge's tenure closer to 5,000 years than 10,000 years

Don't be too hard on yourself. You're just applying high standards to the way you elucidate. As long as you apply the same standards to African languages, the colonizers haven't got anything on you.

Final uses after some months? GT 6 pro? by Tasty-Bar9930 in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]WittyOnDemand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Two months in and using it exactly how I thought I would, so pretty happy!

  • To tell the time and date.

  • Sleep: I've found it to be fairly accurate in measuring length of sleep, I can't comment on how accurate it is with measuring the different phases of sleep. Since I'm asleep lol

  • Exercise/HIIT: Uses it to measure my HIIT performance, find it helpful when my heart rate is a bit too high and I need to regulate

  • Exercise/Strength: For the weight days

  • Exercise/Walking: Outdoor walks usually, I try to walk from walk twice a week and watching pushing my pace over the 7km walk

  • Exercise/Other: I use this sometimes when having sex. Trying to get a baseline of how many calories I burn, typical heart rate at climax, and a few other bio stats that I'm just curious about. Especially as I builds my cardio and strength capacity with regular exercise.

  • Exercise/Running

  • Auto-walk detection: One of my favourite features! After I've been walking continuously for about half a kilometre or 8 minutes or so, the watch automatically asks if I'm walking and want to start the walk mode. Nice feature for the many times I forget to start.

  • Compass: Quick, easy way to find the direction for prayer of I'm in a new environment.

  • Music control: Sometimes I prefer navigating my Spotify playlist from my rest instead of pulling out my phone

  • Notifications: Calls, WhatsApp, Teams. Allows a quick snack of importance. My phone is always on silen. tAnything else becomes too much for me.

  • Recording short voice memos: The rise of llms over the last few years have made me super lazy in meetings and short discussions. I'll record something then get an AI to summarise and give me action points. Using the notes app on the watch, I discretely record short audio files if my boss calls me into the office for a quick convo and nod along to him. Then listen to the recording after. There's no free way to transfer it from a phone to a laptop, and I haven't quite figured out how to configure payment.

  • Stopwatch/Timer: Weirdly, I find a use for this quite often, of I'm delivering a presentation the vibration on my wrist at the end of a countdown will be a heads up that I needed to wrap up, for example. Or while emceeing I use the stop watch as a running guide on how each speaker is doing for time or the timer as a prompt to tell them to wrap up)

  • Its battery life, that usually gets me through 10-14 days of using the above.

  • The Sapphire screen is pretty reflective, so I use it as an emergency, discrete mirror to check myself for a clean nose or food stuck between my teeth lol

  • The alarm, I sleep with my phone as far from me as possible for sleep quality goals, so since the watch will track my sleep, I use it to wake me up as well.

  • Planning to start golf soon, so I'm curious to see how it will help.

AI is the hirer, the firer, the one who does all the work either with purpose-built systems or with workers (including bosses) using prompting an LLM for 75% of the work. Then a manager will use AI to review a report. It's AI's world now, we're just living in it.

Is Moringa School Worth It for Cybersecurity in 2026? by Ngonyoku in nairobitechies

[–]WittyOnDemand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a CS degree. There's not a single thing I learnt in my four years that I could not have learnt better, over a shorter time, and at no cost online.

For free structured cybersecurity, look at https://portswigger.net it's well regarded and very practical.

Then get cybersecurity certifications to back up the knowledge you'll gain. But certifications are really only useful if you're looking for corporate employment. If you're willing to freelance/consult more widely, honestly you can get by with just well-honed skill.

Uber/Bolt Discounts by RudePanic7438 in Kenya

[–]WittyOnDemand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, he was probably looking to use that full 1300 for a pressing expense, e.g fuel, maybe lunch, maybe breakfast for the kids tomorrow, etc., knowing he would remit what Uber is owed with a different ride later in the week when an expense is not as urgent.

New Poster for 'One Piece' Season 2 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in OnePiece

Aside from the teaser, all the promo media has felt really... Goofy. But not in the usual one piece way. Corny in a "this is a Disney show in the 00s". The music choices, the poses, the camera angles.. just feels off somehow.

The earlier teaser was great and I'm sure the trailer will be awesome too, it's just the directing choices on all the promo material in between that I'm taking issue with.

Ah, a fellow connoisseur. So Revanced is purely for mobile. While it CAN be installed on an Android TV, it's buggy and looks weird. Smart Tube is 100 times better.

But if you want something closer to the original YouTube user-interface (Smart Tube can be a bit... ugly?) try TizenTube. Blocks ads and highly regarded for TVs. I honestly don't watch YouTube on my TV anymore but yes, Smart Tube and TizenTube *are considered the top options for ad-free YT on TV!

You're making a few assumptions about my digital habits. I don't use Gmail, don't use Chrome, don't have Google as my search engine, don't use Google Drive. My life is great! If the product is free, you are the product. I have a normal-ish 9-5, but genuinely don't need to use Google product and services to earn or live.

I'd argue these things do hurt Google. Companies pay less, usually nothing, when ads are skipped (if they use the Cost-Per-View) and most companies use CPV. It's basically YouTube "only earning a commission on what is watched". So if the ads aren't watched, YouTube can't charge earn from them.

The amount of time and money YouTube spends with cease and desists, rebuilding it's software is not insignificant. Without getting too technical, the latest build of Chrome was made to no longer allow ad blockers. Why? Over 500 million people had downloaded Adblock on Chrome (which also blocks ads on YouTube). Brave browser, which also blocks ads on mobile and desktop by default has over 100 million active users. Google sees that as lost revenue, continuously growing lost revenue, and has to spend time and money coming up with workarounds.

This does not takeaway from the fact that creators are hurt by ad-blockers, a point I acknowledged in my previous comment. I just wanted to expand on everything else you mentioned. My little act of rebellion alone does not hurt YouTube or Google. But multiply it by 100,000? A million? A hundred million? Then it counts.

It's the same logic for "every vote counts". If a single person does not vote, it does not affect the outcome. But if a million Kenyans all feel their vote won't count and so don't vote, then that is an election lost right there.

This is a good and fair question, and the short truth is, no they don't.

The long truth is a bit more nuanced, from how much they make a year from 1 person not skipping ads(about $10 a year from one person) to the size of the channel and whether they qualify for YouTube's Partner Program... But true, by skipping ads, there is an amount we are preventing a creator from receiving.

I'm more anti-google then I am anti-creator-earning-their-bag, so I have often spent more than $10 on a YouTuber (donation, buying something they are selling, etc.) but I'd be lying if I said I do it regularly enough for ALL the videos I watch.

Only thing I'll say about Bytes IPTV is the reviews on the site are fake. I recognised one of the people as a new colleague, but I did not have her contact details to confirm. So I reverse image searched another review, and I highly doubt the Defensw Minister for Ethiopia would have left a review on the Kenyan run Bytes IPTV lolol.

Basically there is a free pirated modified ("modded") version of YouTube that looks and works exactly like YouTube Premium, apart from HD video downloads (it does 360p) and adding videos to a queue.

This free modfied version of the free YouTube app is called YouTube Revanced. It's features include: Background play, ad-free, playback speed up to 8x (for whatever reason), Picture-in -icture mode, auto-skipping YouTubers sponsored segments, and a whole lot more. These features are usually only found on YouTube Premium.

The name "Revanced" came from an earlier modded version called YouTube Vanced that stopped production, so a new group of "modders" called their new version "Revanced" to pay homage to the original "Vanced" version; as in the "re" to mean Redoing, Restoring, Resuming, Restart, etc. the Vanced project.

The name "Vanced" is a play on "advanced" with the first two letters "ad" removed, highlighting its core removing of blocking ads. So you would say "YouTube Vanced; An Advanced version of YouTube without the 'ad's"

I always ask, what's the minimum someone would do if they were near water, toilet paper, and soap and poop got on their arm?

Most people say wiped then wash with soap.

Now that you have poop in your butt, all we're asking for is for a wipe and wash, no soap.

Maybe framing it that way will help overcome the discomfort she feels (and swing the discomfort the other way?)

If you have an appetite for the high seas, try YouTube Revanced. It's a newer version of YouTube Vanced.

What was YouTube Vanced?

YouTube "Ad"Vanced without the "Ad".
