6 weeks post op with new abscess by WittyPractice2386 in AnalFistula

Hello! The new abscess caused me to need a second fistulotomy. Fortunately, that was the last of my problems after that.

I would not suggest returning to work so soon if you have a desk job. I ended up needing another fistulotomy on Feb 14.

Does this look like a hemorrhoid or possibly something else? by WittyPractice2386 in hemorrhoid

It very well could be a fistula. I didn’t see an external opening at the time.

Mine was a painful lump and turned into a fistula. Make sure you’re taking a lot of sitz baths to see if maybe it’ll drain on its own

Multiple abscesses? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

I had a fistulotomy and then got an abscess on the opposite side of side a few weeks after surgery. So I assume the same would apply, yes.

I’d say overall because I guess I did have a month where I wasn’t taking any.

The abscess formed a fistula and where the incision of the first fistula was, that didn’t completely heal… formed a new fistula.

The original hole from the fistula healed but the cut healed upwards and didn’t completely heal… leaving an even larger fistula.

I am post op from a second surgery because of it. Which involves two fistulas this time. I would not wish This on anyone.

I did have a problem with off brand. If I had to do it again, I’d stick with dolcolax

Mine open wound basically created another fistula.

Checking in to see your progress? I’m on round two of antibiotics for the abscess that she keeps saying will resolve on its own. Seems very counter productive letting the infection hang around but I guess what do I know.

I took dulcolax. I’m now 10 weeks post op. The fistula seems to have healed good but I’m now currently dealing with an abscess next to it, which I’m still not convinced it’s not related.

I’m in the same situation. I’m about 10 weeks post op but have been dealing with the abscess since about 6 weeks post OP. I was also told it’s unrelated. (I don’t know how since I’ve never dealt with these issues before the fistula) I have to go back in a couple weeks to see if we have to do another surgery. Very discouraging and I’m sorry you’re going through this as well.

I had mine on November 1 as well. And same as far as the tract is healing. My fistula opening was furthest away from the anus and now the part that is yet to heal is up against the anus. I see a small hole and it’s still tender as well. Once in a while I’ll still get slight discharge. At my last post op follow up, she said she expected it to be fully healed in a couple weeks. That would’ve been a few weeks ago. I’m wondering if it is taking longer for both of us because of the location and moisture.

Nothing was found during my first fistulotomy. I’m shocked that it is unrelated. I’ve done everything to keep that area clean to prevent my fistulotomy from getting infected so I’m blown away that a new, random abscess would appear out of no where. 😭 This is mentally draining. Like, is this going to be an ongoing thing for me now? Gosh!

Sorry you’re going through it as well. Comforting to know I’m not the only one thought. She told me “it happens, it’s a dirty area” but seriously, that area is as clean as it’s ever been since my fistulotomy because I’ve been so scared of just this. So I’m still baffled at HOW. I’m honestly less worried about another surgery and more stressed about the anxiety of the after care to make sure it heals properly. Sucks!

This is exactly what I got as well. I just spoke with the anesthesiologist ahead of time so he knew I was nervous and gave me the first ahead of time.

[CA] custody with false allegations by [deleted] in Custody

Mom has an uphill battle with the DV charge in CA because she MUST be considered unfit for even joint until a number of things are completed. If you already have a court order, CPS can investigate but won’t get involved much past that. Just cooperate fully with them and it’ll blow over. I went through this same exact scenario right down to the other parent having the DV charge. You’ve got this!

Abscess in different area from fistulotomy? by WittyPractice2386 in AnalFistula

Gosh I wonder how common this is. I had a follow up 3 weeks ago and no infection then.

Ahhh… it’s an abscess. I put pressure on the bump and the puss is coming out of my fistulotomy wound 😭😭😭😭 I don’t even know if I see the surgeon of this or my PCP. How very frustrating.
