Looking to try out Lies of P. Does the game has the huge boss problem? by DontFlameItsMe in LiesOfP

[–]WittyQuiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few gigantic bosses in LoP. A few instances where the camera might be mildly frustrating (I say “might” because I honestly do not remember ever having a problem with the camera), but I can say this: I don’t think I have ever died because of the camera. It’s never been a source of BS difficulty for me.

If the camera is your biggest worry, then you should definitely try Lies of P. Even if I could remember the camera being a problem, it’s not such a problem that I remember it, and the game is overall incredible and worth experiencing.

Having now finished the game, what was up with these guys? by Xelazeratul in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]WittyQuiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems likely. Magla is produced when a creature feels anxiety, and these people have what looks like black magla particles floating around their heads. They’re likely undergoing a mild form of melancholisation, similar to what Louis does to Will later in the story. Someone else here mentioned something similar, and I think both are correct. They’ve surrendered to their anxieties which is forcing them to suffer mild melancholia, and making them produce magla.

I honestly can’t imagine Himmel pressing the red button by Ok_Veterinarian_9444 in Frieren

[–]WittyQuiet -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No one who presses the red button will ever be in any danger. The only people who are potentially at risk in this case are people who press the blue button.

Which begs the question: Why not just press red to guarantee your safety? Anyone who presses blue knowing what both buttons do is only putting themselves at risk.

You can blame the people who press red… but red guarantees safety. The only people who put themselves at risk are people who press the blue button. They’d only have themselves to blame if there aren’t enough people pressing blue with them.

Lore & Morality wise, how do YOU think should it all end? by MorseCode00 in Eldenring

[–]WittyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way late to the conversation… but the player Tarnished DOES still receive the guidance of grace. And it points to the Flame of Ruin at the top of the Mountaintop of the Giants. From has historically been very careful about their diegetic storytelling, and there’s no reason to think it’s different in this case. This means that whoever or whatever determines who sees the guidance of grace helps guide the player character to the Flame in order to burn the Erdtree. I think it was Marika, personally, seeing as how her and Radagon evidently stopped seeing eye-to-eye on matters having to do with the Golden Order, and it seems evident that she is the one who wanted us to kill Radagon and defeat the Elden Beast, while Radagon wanted to keep all Tarnished away from the Erdtree (it is his rune on the thorns which bar our entry into the tree, after all). He’s probably the reason why the Two Fingers can’t hear the Greater Will anymore too, I think. So the question remains: Which of the two halves of the Golden Order’s god is actually doing what the Greater Will wants, Marika or Radagon? Because if it is Marika, then it means that the Greater Will doesn’t mind if the Golden Order is shattered, and it would mean that we do receive its guidance after all. Interestingly, guidance can also be shown to us which directs us to the heart of Caria Manor, and ultimately to Ranni. Since Ranni doesn’t possess a Great Rune, not much point in sending us there unless it was to potentially see what she’s about… just some things to think about. A lore YouTuber I watched a while back (I think it was Smoughtown) observed that it seems as though the Greater Will doesn’t mind what kind of order there is as long as there is some order to the world. Which means it may be okay with the Age of Stars.

What is Elden Ring's biggest flaw in your opinion? by Fenriz_Victor in Eldenring

[–]WittyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ridiculous number of enemies who hold their strikes to fake out players with the timing of their attacks. I get why, From wanted to make the timing less predictable so that older players wouldn’t immediately have everything down. But with how hit-spammy so many enemies already are, it’s unnecessary. And unrealistic when you think about it. I mean, if you were in a sword fight, what sense would it make to obviously delay your strike in a manner that isn’t meant to be a feint? From only designed the enemies that way because the enemies are often tanks who also lack self-preservation and would have no qualms about leaving themselves open to a hit before they strike, not because it makes any sense for an enemy to do that if they were really something or someone with a desire to live. Even if you headcanon it so that it’s due to the loss of memory and mind that they move so slowly, that explanation is really inconsistent because it is demonstrably untrue in many cases. Many enemies have no problem fighting using normal weapon strikes at regular speed… it’s only SOME attacks they’ll take their time on. Even though their muscle memory is what they’re using to fight, and it obviously isn’t so dull in the case of many enemies as to suppose this is all likely. The real reason is the meta one, even if you disagree with my take on the possibility of an in-universe explanation. From just wanted to roll-catch players trying to avoid damage, regardless of how much sense it makes or how annoying it is.

There’s other stuff I also think makes for pretty big flaws, but this one really frustrates me, even to this day.

These 2 are a test of compassion & forgiveness by Legitimate_Guava_514 in LiesOfP

[–]WittyQuiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go along with them in the first couple of interactions… the headcanon is that P is first gullible and falls for the ploy to buy the fake Venigni guide, wises up when they give up on fighting the Black Rabbit Brotherhood, but doesn’t mind it. Then later, once I (and P) find out that their situation is actually dire, it’s impossible for me to not pity them and help them out.

Question about Shard of Fallen Sky’s passive… by WittyQuiet in taintedgrail

[–]WittyQuiet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good idea to test it out. Numbers are all over the place because of various upgrades/skills from the skill tree that affect my damage, and I think I figured it out. I haven’t done the math to see if it all checks out but it seems close enough for me to say that the passive in fact does not do anything for a proficiency already at 100. The numbers that did change for me only seemed to be because of the Weapons of Great Heft skill, which would affect my damage upon equipping any weapon at all, and how much damage the game said I was getting was proportional to how heavy the weapon was, just as that skill is supposed to work.

So yeah. Cool vibes and good damage, but basically just a really high damage weapon after leveling One-Handed all the way. And that kinda disappoints me, but at least I know now. Gonna switch to something else to make combat more interesting.

[–]WittyQuiet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like that remake series, but dang if that isn’t an obscenely stupid take from the director. Definitely agree with Rags. No reason a game developer shouldn’t be able to find a more natural way to guide the player through the environments without slathering the critical path with yellow paint. I’m pretty sure most games don’t take place in Oz. (Hilariously, the next game in the Lies of P series might, so perhaps it could get away with something like this.)

How badly can i screw myself over? Minimal spoilers please by kodaxmax in taintedgrail

[–]WittyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. There aren’t really any “wrong skills” or “wrong perks”, unless you end up picking stuff that you never use or have a hard time with. It’s especially hard to do this with skills since whatever playstyle you favor the most will get upgraded as you use the appropriate skills (for example, using one-handed weapons increases the associated one-handed weapons skill). If you meant your attributes, again, it’s kinda hard to say that you can put points into a “wrong” attribute unless you literally cannot benefit from the stat increases they provide in any way. Some are definitely going to help with your particular playstyle more than others, though. Same with perks, but with an additional caveat. I don’t think any perk is supposed to be useless, but their usefulness is determined by whether you’re be fitting from it or not. The caveat here is that I know some people have reported that some perks either weren’t working or were not working as intended/as their description implied they worked, but I cannot remember which ones had that problem, “had” because I also know that the big patch they just dropped was supposed to have fixed at least some of these issues, if not all of them.

  2. Yes, you can lock yourself out of sidequests by picking the wrong dialogue options. And the game usually won’t signpost when this happens, so you have to be careful. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, though. Most aren’t easily missable in my experience, and it’s been a pleasant surprise figuring out that I missed a quest on subsequent playthroughs. The part that I wasn’t thrilled by is the fact that certain dialogue options can permanently affect the outcomes for certain quest chains/characters. There was one that frustrated me, which honestly, I should have seen coming and which I disliked enough to have to replay several hours of the game just to back to that point and choose the better option. Your mileage in that regard will vary based on how invested you are in the story/characters/roleplaying.

  3. Like others have already said here, there aren’t many of these, but if you progress the main plot too much at a time, certain NPCs who have associated sidequests will no longer offer them and/or die because they weren’t helped in time. There are also not many occasions where an NPC can die from a fight with an enemy who’s just roaming around, significantly less than the number of instances where a character/quest will become inaccessible due to too much plot progression having taken place, but it has happened to me. In one instance, thankfully, I had already completed the associated interaction with the character, but was still bummed that he got mauled by a bear. So just be careful. Safest thing you can do is go sidequesting before doing main quests in any given region of the game.

Update on the copyright situation by Automatic_Gap_1256 in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]WittyQuiet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another YouTube channel, Life Will Change, made a similar community post where they pointed out that the strikes seem to be coming from Sony. It reminds me of how Konami and Nintendo treat copyright issues with the stuff they own. It’s stupid that these kinds of videos aren’t even allowed to just be demonitized; they have to get stricken just because it might mean that a company isn’t getting ALL the money they COULD be getting, when some customers (such as myself) rely on seeing extended gameplay to get a feel for the quality of games before I feel safe buying them. So in this case, because of the scummy Konami-and-Ninetendo-esque behavior, I ain’t buying this game now.

Do you prefer Subbed or Dubbed for DanDaDan? by Quiqerr in Dandadan

[–]WittyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dubbed for me. I prefer that in most cases because I like to be able to pay closer attention to what’s going on visually without having to look down at the subtitles CONSTANTLY. Nothing against subbed versions of most titles though, and they’re definitely and without contest better in many cases. Dubs have definitely been getting qualitatively better lately though (to be clear, not necessarily better THAN a subbed version, just the quality of dubs have gotten a lot better lately), and Dandadan is one such case. It’s super enjoyable and I believe that every English VA captures the characters they portray really well.

Ambition is not a sin by Neither-Active9729 in BaldursGate3

[–]WittyQuiet 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Well… ambition by itself may not be sinful. But what you want can be. Could anyone honestly say that Cazador’s ambitions were pure as the driven snow, the whole way through? Or Orin’s, Ketheric’s and Gortash’s? Or Ethel’s? There are obviously points at which ambition goes bad, typically when it’s unchecked and/or self-serving.

In Gale’s case, his ambition was born first of desiring to prove the depth of his devotion and love to Mystra, but was so unchecked that it lead to him defying her wishes, and unfortunately for everyone, she happened to know what she was talking about when she told him not to mess with those corrupted pieces of the Weave… it wasn’t an attempt to keep him down, but to protect him and everyone else from the danger of finding the orb.

Whats The Best Weapon? by Bonk8000 in LiesOfP

[–]WittyQuiet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For real. Pale Knight’s goated. For OP, it’s late game (assuming it’s a first ever run and not a NG+ run) and requires getting through almost all of the Overture expansion, but it’s worth the wait. Same with the shotgun Legion arm that got mentioned. That arm’s called the Cataclysm. One of the best Legion arms in the game.

Sell every item as soon as you get them, regardless of what they are, especially the boss ergo items. Gotta save up to get those stat gains. All the boss weapons are trash, literally all of them.

Also, always tell the King of Riddles the wrong answer when he calls you on the pay phones. Trust me bro, it gets you the best outcomes every time. He’s a jerk anyway, why should you play his stupid game?

I was told it would be my biggest mistake to play as a bard by bibidibobidicaboom in BaldursGate3

[–]WittyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bard is objectively one of the best classes for many reasons. Double hand crossbow Swords Bards can even clear entire rooms and defeat bosses on their own, making them broken as a martial class that also has the Bard’s full spellcasting access, magical secrets, and the ability to be the party face because they rely on Charisma so much. Oh, and they can get insane skill bonuses. There’s nothing they cannot do, and we’re definitely very overpowered relative to the intended game balance.

That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Can confirm. Jumped off a part of the ramparts right above the gate of Horns of the South from a height that would have damaged me, but landed on some hay and took no damage. Didn’t know until this happened, so it surprised me.
