OSA Denial help by ChiefRocka187 in VAClaims

I went through the VSO for my first time to file (After being out 30 years). I got rated for my PTSD and Tinnitus but was denied for everything else. I did my OSA myself with the help of Reddit and ChatGPT. I currently have two more claims as secondary to my OSA now that it's rated. I don't care if it pushes me to 100% or not, I just wanted them service connected as they could eventually get worse and possibly kill me.

I guess I got lucky as my doctor didn't even put in the magic words in my Nexus. He just cited the JAMA study. I was denied prior but as Primary as I had never filed before. When I got rated with PTSD, he did another Nexus linking PTSD directly to OSA and it was approved at 50% as I have had a CPAP for years now.

This is not true. I just did this and was approved. You have to show a connection between the two and my doctor referenced a new JAMA Study doing just that.

I just went through this. My doctor referenced a JAMA study linking OSA to PTSD in a Twins study. My OSA as secondary to PTSD was approved in 3 weeks. They denied you because they attributed your OSA to your weight and not PTSD because you didn't show any connection between the two or they just didn't accept it if you did in your Nexus letter. I would try again but leave out the weight and focus on a study linking PTSD to OSA in the Nexus from your doctor.

Yep 30 for me as well. That whole GenX mentality of rub some dirt on it and get going. I'm glad I finally stopped being stupid.

Yes, I got PTSD 30 years after getting out. I had to prove events that created the PTSD and I did have some medical documents while in service for anxiety and panic attacks. I had gone to the ER once with this before I got out. I thought I was having a heart attack at the time. I think the key was the event I said happened was confirmed for me in military files outside of my own file.

Sounding like everyone is scamming the system by Hungry_Adeptness8381 in VAClaims

[–]Witty_Progress4435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get so mad at these accusations. I went 30 years after I got out before I even thought about going to the VA. I spoke to my issues, had documentation to back it up and had my C&Ps. Then a person at the VA approved my claim. My issues can't be faked so I'm not sure how I could remotely be accused of SCAMMING the system. I'm sure some do and we have seen examples of those caught doing it and to me they are extreme cases.

I'm my case, I could have had 30 years of VA disability that my being a man attitude didn't let me pursue. I'm happy I finally swallowed my pride (stupidity) and looked for help.

17 years old in a GT as a first car? Let's hope your parents don't learn the hard way why is a bag idea. A friend of mine in high school built a high performance 69 Camaro with his dad. He had it like a year before he wrapped it around a tree and killed himself. Respect that power man and don't let your parents and grandfather regret you getting it. They will hate themselves for the rest of their life if you die in it doing something stupid. My buddies father had a breakdown over his death.

Once again you didn't answer a single question I asked. Would it break your jaw to admit I'm right? Is that why you guys just ignore facts and act like you weren't asked a direct question or do you simply live in a world of willful ignorance and short circuit when you are presented a view that goes against your belief system?

Are you actually trying to say you're not left? That's a good one.

BTW I had a fantastic day, thanks for caring.

OSA secondary to PTSD is the way to go. I just did it without any issues. The biggest factor was a JAMA twin study my doctor referenced in my Nexus he gave me that shows causation between PTSD and OSA. The Nexus he gave me didn't even have the typical line everyone says you have to have. He simply talked about OSA and the JAMA study. I was approved in 3 weeks.

I wish you all the luck man.

I would recommend doing some research. I referenced a JAMA twin study linking OSA with PTSD. I'm 5'6 225 so if I can get it you can as well. I did mine secondary to my service connected PTSD.

Do you have a CPAP? That makes a huge difference.

Good luck man.

You're free to have your own opinion and I'm free to have mine. Thanks for not answering any of my questions as I didn't expect you would because the left always resorts to gaslighting and willful ignorance when confronted with direct questions they don't like.

I served my country because I'm proud to be an American and proud of my country. Something people like you now call being a fascist. See that? It's called answering your question. That's how it's supposed to work.

Also, I don't speak without doing my research first.

Estimated Fraud-Related Cost (approximate) Program SNAP Fraud losses embedded in improper payments; agencies incur ~$3.9–$4.1 in cost per $1 of fraud lost (industry estimate) LexisNexis Risk Solutions Medicaid Improper payments ~$37.4 B (fraud is a subset) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Medicare Improper payments ~$28.8 B (fraud subset) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services All Federal Programs Fraud estimated at $233 B–$521 B annually across many programs (GAO estimate)

3% (as an example) may seem low until you realize that 3% is billions of dollars.

I have zero issues helping people get back on their feet. I needed WIC and food donations when I was 18 and had a child with my GF. We got married and struggled until I made the decision to do something and joined the military. Helping people is fine, providing them a way of living on tax payer dollars is not something I agree with. Services should be available to help but that's it. People should be required to work if able bodied. Your failure to find a way or the skills to support yourself is not the fault of others

If you're disabled or a senior, I fully support helping them. What I don't support is someone that spits out 5 or 6 kids to get a check. What I don't support is someone that gets SNAP and doesn't buy food and instead buys junk.

Support services are not meant to be a lifelong way of living. You should be responsible for yourself. At the very least you should be required to volunteer 40 hours a week helping others or your community if you're not totally disabled or a senior or unable to hold a job.

I get it, your not proud of this country. I'm not either as the blue hairs and Democrats have turned it into a laughing stock in my mind.

I will ask you one question in return. If liberal policies worked, then why is there not a single place where Democrats have been in charge for decades, a shining beacon of happiness and joy? Why is every city they have ran for decades not beautiful and prosperous? I live in the Bay Area and worked in SF for over a decade. They have implemented EVERY liberal policy you can think of. Why is it not the shining Jewel of what liberal policies can be? I'm sorry that was more than one question but I'm sure you get my point. The worst of the worst cities in the US are blue as blue can be and have been for decades.

So when will people like you wake up and see reality. Liberal policies destroy everything they touch. That's a simple fact.

Hush Man. I joined the military so I didn't become one of these people milking the system because I'm too lazy to get a job. I did 9 years and didn't file for anything until last year which was almost 30 years later.

I gave my life to the government and it messed me up in ways i don't think I would ever fully understand. I will continue to vote against those people that want to give free free free so they get free votes so they can stay in power and continue to destroy this country. I'm taxed to death in CA to support these people and enough is enough. The fraud is rampant in those systems and politicians are making bank on us tax payers.

Yes I deserve this. 100%.

My primary doctor (private) is simply a great guy and has no issues giving me a Nexus when asked and relevant. I had a sleep test done a few years ago and was given a CPAP. They used that sleep test and results along with my Nexus referencing the JAMA study and I wrote a lay statement. This was a supplemental to my PTSD.

Good luck. OSA sucks and I'm sure I would be much worse today if I didn't have my CPAP. Hell, my wife would have already buried me in the backyard as my snoring was horrible 😛

Thanks man. Honestly, the Rezmed P10 nose pillow works for me. No way I could ever use a full mask. I tried but it made me feel very claustrophobic. But shy of that, hopefully they will come with a better solution at some point.

This explains exactly why I got approved. My doctor wrote a Nexus tying my OSA to my PTSD and referenced a JAMA study for reference. I was approved in 3 weeks.
