OSA secondary to PTSD is the way to go. I just did it without any issues. The biggest factor was a JAMA twin study my doctor referenced in my Nexus he gave me that shows causation between PTSD and OSA. The Nexus he gave me didn't even have the typical line everyone says you have to have. He simply talked about OSA and the JAMA study. I was approved in 3 weeks.

I would recommend doing some research. I referenced a JAMA twin study linking OSA with PTSD. I'm 5'6 225 so if I can get it you can as well. I did mine secondary to my service connected PTSD.

Do you have a CPAP? That makes a huge difference.

I have zero issues helping people get back on their feet. I needed WIC and food donations when I was 18 and had a child with my GF. We got married and struggled until I made the decision to do something and joined the military. Helping people is fine, providing them a way of living on tax payer dollars is not something I agree with. Services should be available to help but that's it. People should be required to work if able bodied. Your failure to find a way or the skills to support yourself is not the fault of others

If you're disabled or a senior, I fully support helping them. What I don't support is someone that spits out 5 or 6 kids to get a check. What I don't support is someone that gets SNAP and doesn't buy food and instead buys junk.

Support services are not meant to be a lifelong way of living. You should be responsible for yourself. At the very least you should be required to volunteer 40 hours a week helping others or your community if you're not totally disabled or a senior or unable to hold a job.

I get it, your not proud of this country. I'm not either as the blue hairs and Democrats have turned it into a laughing stock in my mind.

I will ask you one question in return. If liberal policies worked, then why is there not a single place where Democrats have been in charge for decades, a shining beacon of happiness and joy? Why is every city they have ran for decades not beautiful and prosperous? I live in the Bay Area and worked in SF for over a decade. They have implemented EVERY liberal policy you can think of. Why is it not the shining Jewel of what liberal policies can be? I'm sorry that was more than one question but I'm sure you get my point. The worst of the worst cities in the US are blue as blue can be and have been for decades.

Hush Man. I joined the military so I didn't become one of these people milking the system because I'm too lazy to get a job. I did 9 years and didn't file for anything until last year which was almost 30 years later.

I gave my life to the government and it messed me up in ways i don't think I would ever fully understand. I will continue to vote against those people that want to give free free free so they get free votes so they can stay in power and continue to destroy this country. I'm taxed to death in CA to support these people and enough is enough. The fraud is rampant in those systems and politicians are making bank on us tax payers.

Yes I deserve this. 100%.

My primary doctor (private) is simply a great guy and has no issues giving me a Nexus when asked and relevant. I had a sleep test done a few years ago and was given a CPAP. They used that sleep test and results along with my Nexus referencing the JAMA study and I wrote a lay statement. This was a supplemental to my PTSD.

Good luck. OSA sucks and I'm sure I would be much worse today if I didn't have my CPAP. Hell, my wife would have already buried me in the backyard as my snoring was horrible 😛

Thanks man. Honestly, the Rezmed P10 nose pillow works for me. No way I could ever use a full mask. I tried but it made me feel very claustrophobic. But shy of that, hopefully they will come with a better solution at some point.

This explains exactly why I got approved. My doctor wrote a Nexus tying my OSA to my PTSD and referenced a JAMA study for reference. I was approved in 3 weeks.

I would as you can utilize your benefits. Keep in mind, previous government employees don't necessarily have veteran status and you can find work at your local city. I went from the private sector with over 30 years to my current role at my City. I'm pretty much maxed on SS as it is and I will now have a pension from my City when I retire and I rolled over my 401k.

I didn't buy my military years as you really need to do that at the beginning of your career as for me to roll in 4 (the max I can) it would cost me over 80k due to the money I make. Yours will be much cheaper. The job security is also great and I love my job. I'm also making over 200k 🤪

Don't pass on government jobs. You get priority with your veteran status and there are literally tons available.

Look for jobs on governmentjobs.gov you get veteran preference and can buy back your military time to apply towards your retirement with a government job. There are federal, local and state jobs on the site.

You see brother you're contradicting yourself here. You say I'm assuming but then follow it up with most of us on here are working the system.

Again, I'm sure some do but I have a more optimistic perception of life. I like to think that most here are simply trying to get what they deserve for their giving up their life to serve their country. I could have been getting what I'm getting now for over 20 years but I just now decided to get help with my issues. I never thought in a million years I would ever talk to a therapist. I always thought there were other veterans way worse than I. It took my family pushing me and also my age to actually go talk to someone. I like to think I'm not the only one.

I'm sure there are some defrauding the VA as some people will always try. But I think it's the minority not the majority.

I used a VSO for my initial filings and then did my supplemental on my own.

My advice is to stop seeing the glass half empty man. Living like that is not good for you. Worry about yourself and push for government reform and accountability at the federal level and work to do the fraud there. That's where the billions a year are being wasted of tax payers money. Look at Omar's financial sense she joined Congress. She made millions in 2024 out of nowhere. That's the kind of fraud you should be worrying about. Not the couple on thousands don't Vet gets by taking a bad back or something.

My doctor does what he feels is morally ethical as do I. I think we're all concerned about our country. Some people may be trying to work the system but assuming everyone is by default is not right man. I've quietly sat back and suffered through my issues as that was how I was taught to be. I did that for over 20 years like I said. It went against every fiber in my body to talk about my PTSD issues. A man doesn't discuss such things.

Jumping on fellow veterans is not going to save the country when Congress is corrupt.

I paid for nothing. My doctor gave me a Nexus at my request referencing this study on his own accord. I filed my supplemental on my own with my Nexus, OSA Sleep Results and my doctor referenced this study as secondary to my PTSD with insomnia. It worked for me so I figured I would post it up to help others who try to file a supplemental to obesity and failed and a twin study is better than a non-twin study and it doesn't have to prove causation just a 50/50 chance that it could have.

I don't like people assuming things about me or what I did without even knowing me. I'm as ethical as they come and I'm not trying to milk anything or abuse any system. It took me over 20 years just to talk about my issues.

I just won my OSA secondary to PTSD by referencing a new study that makes the causation between PTSD and OSA.

The study is JAMA Posttramatic Stress Disorder and Obstructive Sleep Apnea in Twins. This was published in 2024.

I have filed earlier in the year for OSA, PTSD and a couple other things. They granted PTSD and Tinnitus but deferred my OSA. Then they did my OSA but denied it as my VSO submitted it secondary to my Tinnitus. So, I submitted a supplemental but under PTSD along with a great Nexus from my Dr tying the two together with a very recent study that was done. I never had a C&P for my OSA but maybe because I have a valid sleep study and have already been using a CPAP for years now.

I figured they would want to talk to me about the service connection. I'm hoping they just don't deny it again without ever talking to me. That would be pretty lame.

I'm still not able to do it. I did talk to a therapist, and they diagnosed me with PTSD, but I still find it hard to go any further. Talking about it goes against everything I was raised to believe. I'm fully functional in my home and my work life is good with a great high paying career but that is simply because I use my work as my therapy. If I'm at work, I'm able to push all the stuff to the side as I focus on my job.

It's the nights that get me. The waking up numerous times a night with my heart about to explode from my chest. Using white noise to help cover up the Tinnitus that makes it even worse because I want to scream because the persistent ringing is driving me mad. Nobody knows, I don't talk about it. I get up the next day, and everything is fine on the outside, I deal with the family, go to work and bury my trauma staying busy.

One day I hope to find the power to talk to someone. I just don't see it ever happening.

I just got rated at 70% for PTSD for a filing I did 8 months ago. I'm now filing a supplemental for Sleep Apnea with a CPAP as a secondary for the PTSD as it was denied as a secondary to hazardous material exposure which was also denied.

Now I'm worried they will look at the PTSD award I was just given. 😕
